Yes, dogsdinner, that's a good idea. Have thought would like to buy a place with maybe a small annexe in the garden, if I could afford it, then I could rent one unit out separately.

Thought about buying a holiday let? You could rent it out but also use it yourself. Just a thought.

Hi Tanith, am not really sure what I mean either! I am from the mid Wales area, born and bred, so it is my "roots" I want to spend a lot more
time in. I came to London intending to stay for just 2 years and stayed here waaayyy too long ...! However, saying that, I wouldn't give up my London house either so am probably cheating - I want to buy another house in mid Wales with my share of what was my parents' house. Think it's known as having your cake and eating it! Just put this post on hoping that maybe someone already living in Wales might be interested - one can but hope.

Sounds like a nice but problematic idea Tabitha, I love that area and have family in several places in Wales so it would suit me to have a bolt hole down there but being Londoners born and bred can't see us giving up our London house any time soon..
Actually reading your post again I'm not sure thats what you meant? Perhaps I am just a bit dense lol..

Am an active healthy F, 59, mainly living in London at moment. Brother and I about to complete sale of family home in coastal mid Wales. Would like to buy another house in area & spend a lot more time there. But my partner likes London! and would be there prob only half the time. Wondered if any of you might know anyone (M, F or couple, pref 50-65 ish) who might fancy a houseshare from early 2015-ish? And maybe keep an eye on house when I wasn't there. Much more fun walking dog on beach with some company! It is beautiful countryside around there. Just putting out feelers before I start looking for new property. Not sure which bit of "forum" to mention this on so will prob repeat it in other bits - sorry!

(Wd also be interested in opposite scenario as an alternative: if any babyboomers in that area fancied renting out part of their house to me?)
