Congratulations and a big hug from me too! Best feeling in the world isn't it? I hope they (his parents and DGS) all continue to thrive and that Grannyk has recovered too!

I have just about given up on some of the toxic posts/threads on GN these days so your kitchen soop is a wee haven of love and understanding. So many people elsewhere scoring points off each other . Wee bit worrried about DH whose haemoglobin has now dropped below 7 and who is too pooped and breathless to do much more than stagger down to the telly to watch the golf. Poor man is to have another iron infusion tomorrow (can't come too soon) but also a colonoscopy and endoscopy to check for internal bleeding and polyps etc. He is a past master at these but clear fluids only for the rest of today and then just water until after the procedures tomorrow does seem harsh. Especially as he was very sick last night too! I have arranged assistance at Euston when we get there as there is no way he could even walk the length of the platform let alone across the concourse and down to the taxis to get to the hospital. Feeling sad I have had to let DD down as we were going to spend a week with her in Stratford in a little house provided for her by the RSC and dog sit/exercise while she puts in 12 hour days at the theatre prior to her play's opening. DH is just not well enough to be away from home . I have said we could have Basil here but Gracie would have to go into kennels as I doubt she would welcome an interloper who actually stays!! She is a dear dog but not too keen on other dogs especially not on her patch!

Hello Soutra My goodness you have an awful lot to deal with at the moment. I do feel so sorry for your husband, too. The hot and humid weather will certainly drain him of what little energy he has. The procedures that you mention, are far from pleasant. One does get sort of "used" to them after three or four visits. I hope that you benefit from the tremendously helpful customer assistance staff, when you arrive at the station. I have nothing other than praise for them and, likewise, the assistance that I benefited from at the airport just recently. Without such help I could not have made the trip from Glasgow to Sussex. When your husband feels stronger, perhaps you can re arrange to meet up with your daughter. Bless you. Feet up! Golf on! Cooling drink and something to nibble on...relax! You deserve it.

How is Mr Soop progressing? Are "they" any closer to a diagnosis and cure?

Once your DH has had the procedure he will feel much better I should imagine

I know it may be hard but try and think beyond this time and go to a time when things will be better and you will be able to visit your DD

What a shame you have had to cancel your plans with your DD Soutra.

I am just wondering, is there no way the hospital could provide transport for your DH as this sounds like quite an ordeal for him when he is feeling so unwell and weak? I don't know how far you are from the hospital and I am sure you have thought of alternative means of travel but it does seem a lot to ask of your DH, poor man. Hope all goes well for you both tomorrow. and /, whatever you fancy.

Many congratulations grannyknot and a new baby is alway a good reason to celebrate. I remember the birth of one 3 so well. Each one so special in their own right.

Soutra What Agus has suggested makes very good sense. It can't hurt to contact the hospital and ask advice regarding transport.
MacS is still awaiting the results of yet more blood tests. He's much brighter in himself. Fresh outbreak of spots on face and head. The rest appear to be healing nicely. Will keep you posted.

I do believe that we have been spared the wretched weather that has blighted some areas of the UK. It's been a particularly pleasant day in Kintyre. Sunny, warm and there has been a gentle sea breeze.

Soutra what a worry for you. Good luck tomorrow! I had a friend who had cancer treatment at a London hospital and he was driven all the way there and back - is that service a victim of the cuts?

Soutra, we have a hospital car service here in S Wales and I know other areas run them. If it is Central London I understand that it could be difficult but would they provide a taxi? It does not seem right to expect a patient who is feeling so weak to negotiate London's public transport system.

Great news Grannyknot, hope they didn`t buy too many first size clothes, they won`t fit him for very long!

I`m still struggling without the full use of my left arm and hand, it`s almost 13 days now, I thought it`d be right by now. It`s making me very clumsy, I`ve just knocked an ornament off and smashed it, had it since 1978, Grrrrrrr!!!

Thank you for all thr supportive messages. I drop DH at the entrance to MK ststion and then go and park while gets the tickets, the mobility assistance buggy wull take us to a taxi and thence to the hospital. We live sbout 50 miles north of London and when I did book a car to bring him home after heart surgery it was about £100. We are lucky that he is "under" specialists at a major teaching hospital and while the procedures could be carried out closer to home he and I have more confidence this way. The financial cost is a price we csn still pay, fortunately for this peace of mind!

Hope all goes well today Soutra - you will be glad to be home afterwards. I remember your epic journeys of a couple of years ago.

Our eldest granddaughter will graduate on Monday next. She has been offered the job that she most longed for...with a design company that will enable her to travel and see the world. So CHUFFED for her and her long-term partner. Well deserved.
