Bit of both here. Sunny now and clear blue skies but I'm about to go out so will probably pour down soon!

Bella sorry for all that you are going through flowers

soop where do you get all your energy from? I should be getting to grips with the ironing but somehow have found myself checking up on GN instead..... oh well I suppose I'd better start sad

Might have a glass of wine later when it's done grin

Charleygirl Tue 19-Aug-14 15:33:48

Yes Galen sunshine this morning, a downpour now and it is very much colder.

Galen Tue 19-Aug-14 15:08:26

Humph! It's pouring here.

soop Tue 19-Aug-14 14:48:14

A bright and cheerful good afternoon to all my Granspals. I've been dashing away with the smoothin' iron all morning (Tues help my mate date day) and now I'm enjoying fresh coffee from the mug that bags gave me and some oily fish, a little gem lettuce and a Pink Lady apple. Later this afternoon I shall take to my exercise bike and pedal away a few calories over the course of 20 minutes.

The first thing I noticed when I walked outside today, was the fresh, salty smell of the sea.

Our dear friend next door, who has had such an awful reaction to chemo, has just this minute phoned. She's sitting in the sunshine and looking at the sea. She feels heaps better but fears that she may not be able to cope with two more sessions of chemo. Hearing her chuckle has made my day. sunshine

bags No worries! I only managed half a kitchen. Ran out of expletives. All such a waste of effort...wink

thatbags Mon 18-Aug-14 15:57:45

I wish I got a cupboard-cleaning urge a bit more often, soop!

soop Mon 18-Aug-14 14:22:12

Galen you are a rascal. wink

I have a few jobs to attend to today. Ever so often I feel the urge to clean cupboards. Don't ask...it doesn't make sense. hmm It is still blowy but not as cold as it felt yesterday when we finally chose to light the fire.

I shall see if I can add the latest pic of Rory...lolling on MacS's lap after MacS had finished some gardening. It makes me smile. He's such a tyke. grin

I gave my husband his EPO injections.
Just had to catch him first!

rosequartz Sun 17-Aug-14 21:54:52

Sorry to hear your news, Bella, does he have family near him who can help him through this? It sounds as if he got to hospital quickly and is in the right place at least.

The injections you will be doing for your DH sound like some that I had to have years ago; I could not let anyone else do them for me, rather I positioned the needle correctly, then shut my eyes and jabbed without looking! Good luck, I hope they will help him as they did me! flowers

We have had a very busy weekend, and now have two little DGDs asleep upstairs - just hoping they sleep right through and we have a peaceful night. I never sleep that well if they are here, always have one ear open and alert.

Best wishes to all before I fall asleep! moon

Bellasnana Sun 17-Aug-14 21:53:10

Thank you all for your support. It has come as a huge shock, but we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery. It is particularly sad as he has just retired and was looking forward to being able to relax and enjoy life. Still, life isn't fair for a lot of people and we still, believe it or not, have much to be grateful for.

Charleygirl, you are right it is very hard being unable to visit him, but that's the price I have paid for living abroad. We definitely enjoyed a glass or two of wine with our meal tonight whilst toasting poor BiL's birthday.

Well, as the Irish proverb goes 'God fits the back to the burden' but I think it has escaped His notice that my back is quite small grin

Goodnight all, and thanks again for your kindness moon flowers (((hugs)))

Oh Bella, so sorry to read your latest news, some folk seem destined for more than their fair share of life`s misfortunes.

dustyangel Sun 17-Aug-14 19:43:38

Bella (((hugs))) flowers

Agus Sun 17-Aug-14 19:32:53

Oh Bella I'm so sorry to hear you have even more to deal with. It's so bloody unfair ((((((hugs))))))

thatbags Sun 17-Aug-14 19:14:57

bella flowers brew (hug)

ffinnochio Sun 17-Aug-14 18:04:37

Bella Really sorry to hear about this latest news of your family. I think you cope magnificently. flowers

Charleygirl Sun 17-Aug-14 17:57:28

OMG Bella what more can happen one asks? The awful thing is that you cannot visit him as he is so far away. Not that you have much time on your hands with DH and other members of your family who are hospitalised or temporarily discharged at present.

Thankfully you have a decent GP who is happy and able to help you get through all of this stress. Perhaps a glass of vino this evening with your meal?flowers

Lona Sun 17-Aug-14 15:45:41

Me too Bella, glad you've had some medical help as you have more than your fair share of stress and worry!
We would all be there to help if we could flowers xx

Nonu Sun 17-Aug-14 13:04:48

So sorry to hear of your latest setback, BELLA.
I send my love and good wishes to you and yours.
XX

Bellasnana Sun 17-Aug-14 12:43:48

Thank you kitty and soop. I am coping pretty well thanks to my lovely doctor who has prescribed some magic pills. They have definitely helped reduce the stress and anxiety which was wearing me out, and being able to pop into the kitchen has also helped a lot. You are all so kind.

((((Hugs)))) and flowers

Bellasnana Sun 17-Aug-14 12:35:24

Yes, Galen, DH is fairly hirsute. He is definitely not as obedient as my dear departed dog either grin

soop Sun 17-Aug-14 12:29:19

Galen I like ebay. Will have a nose around. wink

Galen Sun 17-Aug-14 12:28:33

eBay! What's wrong with my finger today?

soop Sun 17-Aug-14 12:28:25

Bellasnana I cannot think of anything other to say than I'm truly sorry that you have had yet more distressing news to deal with. Your spirit shines through. You have enormous inner strength. I and other kitcheners admire you for a whole host of reasons. If I could hug you tenderly right this minute, I surely would. flowers

Grannyknot I was beginning to wonder where you be. We like your company. Being a new grannie is a most exciting time. Enjoy! sunshine

We are being battered by gales today. The sea is as choppy as it gets. The Eucalyptus tree is bending this way and that. It has been staked and is now a fine looking specimen. Wouldn't be surprised if we lose power, later. This area is prone to such inconveniences.

Galen Sun 17-Aug-14 12:28:00

Got my gadget very reasonably on rbay

kittylester Sun 17-Aug-14 12:27:16

Crumbs Bella, in never rains but it pours, does it. sad You must be nearly on your knees with stress. Although, thinking about it, we keep going when we have to and buckle later don't we? Take care of yourself, lots of people rely on you! flowers Could you give your DH a choccie drop when he's had his injection? grin Best wishes for a swift recovery for your BiL.

I haven't been here much as I've been babysitting while DD gets organised for her Health and Hygiene inspection but, on the plus side my kitchen sparkles! grin

soop, I gave up on The Honourable Woman but if someone could let me have a precis, I'd be very grateful. confused As well as the MI5/6 man, I did like the security guard who ended up in the meat factory. sad

Anyway, must dash, I'm off to buy new, clean spatulas and a jolly molly that hasn't got holes in and three weeks' worth of splashes and spills on it!

Take care everyone. sunshine
