Left on the counter.

I'm sure everyone has done this sort of thing more than once. With me it's umbrellas.

I am a lot better at leaving my debit card on the counter or in the machine!

Yes Atqui I have left things all over the place, things I have just bought and my own stuff like umbrellas, scarves, sunglasses, even [once] the cat[ it was at the vets,] I paid for the treatment and walked out.Left the cat in his basket by the counter, went back, red faced 10 mins later.

Oh yes, guilty as charged! I bought a lovely little basket from a charity shop to put the GCs Easter eggs in. Whilst cruising the other charity shops for other goodies, I put the basket (still in its bag) on the counter while I paid for something and went home without it. When I realised what I'd done, I phoned round the various shops to see if they'd found it and it turned out that one of the ladies behind the counter had thought it had been left as a donation and put it out for sale! Luckily it hadn't sold

No Atqu you are not alone I once left a bag at Tesco but as I have been shopping there for many years they all know me and put it by for me, I am sure they would do that to anyone though, but no no you are defnetly not alone on that one, and its so frustrating, especially if there was that night dinner in the bag you leave behing

I once left a whole batch of student assignments on the fish shop counter, and had no memory of so doing. I spent a frantic few days of anxious searching of the house and my office, but was fortunately yoohooed by the fishmonger when walking past his shop. I never did get rid of the awful fishy smell!

My mother was always leaving her umbrella/shopping trolley/walking stick in various shops. It used to really stress me out checking she'd got everything and hadn't left her card dangling out of the ATM. She'd be happily wandering up the High Street with her purse sticking out of her bag, chatting to babies in buggies and I'd be bringing up the rear, loaded down with shopping cursing because I'd left a scented candle at the checkout in Waitrose.

Those were the days.....Not!

I've lost count of how many pairs of reading glasses my DH has left in various places.

I had to retrieve my debit card from Sainsbury's and was astounded at the number of them they had in the drawer! In my youth I lost the same umbrella many times but the lost property office at Waverley Station always had it waiting for me - until the last time! I once bought a pack of stamped envelopes for my mother and popped them into the post box on the way out of the Post Office. Yes, it's not old age - I have always been absent-minded.

I've left shopping behind several times over the years but last week I put my handbag on the ground while I retrieved the pound from my trolley at Aldi and drove home without it! Fortunately someone had picked it up and taken it straight into the shop. Only aged 10 years while driving back to find it!!!

I've never forgotten one of the cats though roses you were probably in a state of shock over the bill

I've lost count of the things left in shops over the years,picking up two bags instead of three the searching for my shopping when I carried home,but never been as bad as my mum who left my brother and I outside of Woolworth's when we where about 3. weeks old.

I left my favourite pair of leather gloves on a counter somewhere. If you see them please let me know.

Quite often when returning to my car in the car park, I go up to the wrong car. I press the remote to unlock the car and then am startled when a different car some distance off responds instead.

A number of years ago DH who in those happy days did all the shopping anyway in shopping mall he discovered trolly of shopping which had beenb paid for gone and he assumed it had been stolen as he had let it out of his sight for a few minutes after leaving Sainsburys he was beside himself and demanded to see the manager of the complex and to cut a long story short it was swiftly located outside a coffee shop where he had left it when he went in for a well earned coffee - he was very shamefaced.
