Yes we could both read it, but had to do a 'double take'.

HollyDaze Fri 27-Jun-14 12:48:14

Numbers make me faze out instantly - no matter how simple the logic is (or so people claim it to be). I managed to read it fairly well first time round but after having to decipher the written text of uni professors, I reckon I read anything after a few seconds wink

I'm not very good with computers and yet my grandson, who is 2 next month, can fiddle about with the computer and bring up his favourite CBBC's song "Teddington's Marching Band". My husband said it is because he is fearless, and I think he's right.

It is the fear of not being able to do something - especially when we are aware that others can do it - that sends us into "panic mode", and once we are in "panic mode" it is really difficult to do what, if we were relaxed, would come naturally.

I'm fine with this puzzle but if you gave me a simple arithmetical task and pitted me against other people to complete it, I would be fearful and freeze.

Yes. Similar to deciphering private car numbers.

Soutra Fri 27-Jun-14 00:02:48

Likewise anno. This one does the rounds of facebook and those round robin emails every so often and most people have no probs reading it. Especialy if you have ever taught teenagers!grin

annodomini Thu 26-Jun-14 22:58:01

I think I've seen that on Facebook or perhaps someone sent it to me by email. No problem either way.

Penstemmon Thu 26-Jun-14 22:37:22

or even 'that too'!

Penstemmon Thu 26-Jun-14 22:36:57

Thattoo jingle grin

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 26-Jun-14 22:32:19

Blimey Penstemonn. Is that what it does?!

I thought it demonstrates how good you would have been working for the French Resistance.

Ana Thu 26-Jun-14 22:23:42

Oh, come on...it's just that all Gransnetters are incredibly brainy, that's all! grin (well, most, but you got there in the end, jingl! wink)

Penstemmon Thu 26-Jun-14 22:13:47

yes..think it is because I am used to reading little children's writing!!

It demonstrates that the ability read depends not just on phonic decoding but also of context, understanding of the language/grammatical structure!

Mishap Thu 26-Jun-14 22:01:16

Yes - weird though.

Anne58 Thu 26-Jun-14 21:45:38

jingl you might just be wired differently, if you see what I mean?

It's like those suduko (or whatever it is) puzzles. I just don't get them, not that I'm bothered, I'm a words person rather than a numbers one!

But give me a cryptic crossword puzzle and I'm away. Well, sometimes...

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 26-Jun-14 21:36:46

I obviously have very little brain power.

I'm ok with that.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 26-Jun-14 21:36:07

I couldn't read all of it. Not the first time. I didn't get the "certain" until I saw Ana's post.

It gets easier the longer you look at it.

dustyangel Thu 26-Jun-14 19:50:37

Yes!

BeeWitch Thu 26-Jun-14 17:24:52

Sorry - just read this as BRIAN power, hmm and was curious .... I can read it, so my Brian is working ok

HollyDaze Thu 26-Jun-14 17:12:55

I was very impressed at how the brain can decipher that (and similar but that is the only one I've seen that includes numbers) but maybe I'm easily impressed. I have some excellent images on the computer as well but can't post them on here.

I'm pleased you enjoyed the 'shock' as well sherish grin

numberplease Thu 26-Jun-14 16:25:12

Yes!

sherish Thu 26-Jun-14 16:24:20

Yes I can. I amazed myself after first seeing it then it made sense.

Galen Thu 26-Jun-14 16:22:40

It's a bit like playing the viola when you're a violinist by reading the music a third lower then playing the viola as a violin on a different string (at least I think that's how I did it)

Galen Thu 26-Jun-14 16:20:32

Easy

TriciaF Thu 26-Jun-14 16:19:41

Yes - why? It's like speed reading.

Anne58 Thu 26-Jun-14 15:56:45

Yes here too!

Ana Thu 26-Jun-14 15:56:41

I think it's going to be more than just 'certain' people! grin
