Strangest Thing You've Seen

We went on a lovely trip on the Severn Valley Railway and we saw an elephant The train passes by West Midlands Safari Park.

Thanks for posting that KatyK DH and I did that journey years ago. We always remember the park but couldn't remember the train line

It was lovely nina. DD bought us Sunday lunch on the Severn Valley Railway for my 60th birthday. We had a great day.

Getting in a lift which had five bishops in it, of various colours and races, and all in their purple robes, was a bit unusual. (We were staying at the Union Jack club in London and the Lambeth conference was on at the same time.)

Last year I and a friend went on holiday to Ireland. While were there we visited the convent where two nuns who taught us as children now live. We had an invitation to lunch, which we expected to have in the convent refectory.

When we got there, we all got into the community car which took us to the best restaurant in the area, where the nuns were greeted as old friends and regular visitors. They insisted the lunch was on them and they paid with their credit card.

We returned to the convent where we spent the rest of the day in animated conversation and didn't leave until 7.00pm. One of the nuns was over 90, the other over 80!

Good grief! Nuns with credit cards! i thought it was all poverty, chastity and the other one that I can't remember...

Amnesia? Oh no, obedience !!

There was a programme on Telly, that showed a boy of around five years old, in a far away country--sorry can not remember were--was smoking a cigarette in front of his parents, and with his parents consent, it just looked so weired and must say, a little funny.

The only strange thing I remember seeing was years ago, we were driving down a country road somewhere, came around the bend, and had to screech to a halt.Hundreds and hundreds of quite small piglets were running full tilt down the road. We were the only car and stopped there for a while until they had all gone safely past us, there was nobody with them or following them at all.When I say hundreds and hundreds I really mean it. We drove along looking for a farm to stop at and tell someone [we were on holiday] but there was no farm , or houses or anything.They had obviously escaped from somewhere, but may have run a long way.A very surreal sight.

Your experience has reminded me of a similar one I had rosesarered. I had taken the dogs to the beach one day and, after they have finished frolicking in the sea and playing on the sand, we began the climb up the wooden stairs back to the path to where the car was parked. As we got a few feet from where the path bends sharply, a farmer came running towards me waving his arms and shouting 'go back go back' - I turned and went back with the dogs beating me down the steps lol then, at the top of the steps were dozens of sheep, all milling around and in a right tizz. When the farmer gave the all-clear, he explained that as he was transferring the sheep from one field to another, something spooked them and they took off down the public footpath at full belt with him in front of them! What happened to yer dog - that's what I wanted to shout

Yes, isn't it 'one man and his dog'? Maybe the pooch was having an off day. It happens to all of us.

When we were in Australia, visiting one of my husband's friends, there was a loud clunking and dragging noise on the patio. I looked out and there was the family's Jack Russell making the racket, with a huge hoofed, articulated bone in his mouth. I was informed that it was the hind leg of a kangaroo. I wish I'd had a camera handy - the flippin bone was 3 times the size of Jackie. It must have kept him happy for AGES .
