Can you ever have too many............

Pop socks which are knee high, pop socks which are ankle length, popsocks which are known as footsies, sadly few match. Occasionally I get a big handful of them, stick them in a poly bag and dump them in the dustbin.

Oh and a selection of brightly coloured socks.

That's a good idea. I have a notion to turn them into a bracelet - one day!

If odd earrings are dangly ones, I use them as decorations on my small Christmas tree. Being on my own, I don't bother with a full sized tree.

Odd earrings. The cheap every day sort. Can't bring myself to throw them away just in case the pair turns up.

DH finds it hard to throw anything away unless it's completely, beyond redemption worn up and in pieces. He just leaves things by/near/on top of the bin for me to throw out!

I might have rather too many containers in my garden.
Today I bought another bucket! I now have seven.

One old orange bucket I bought for my babies nappies in 1977.
Two red floor mop buckets. One of those was my parents.

One new clean white bucket for soaking washing, washing windows etc.

Today I added another black bucket from B&Q it was one pound.

I now have three of the B &Q black buckets which are strictly for garden use. I can fully justify three garden buckets.

There are also a couple of cracked and handle-less buckets which have garden tools or mud in them.

Probably at least four watering cans only two of which are any use.

Two water buts one storing plant pots.
Four black dustbins in which compost gets stored. One of those was my parents.
Three old washing up bowls!
There might also be two or three old pots that once contained emulsion or shed paint.

I have to say the orange nappy bucket must have been made of a far more robust plastic than any of the newer ones. It coped with over four years of stinking Nappisan solution and smelly nappies.

The three wheelie bins are the councils.

As for other stuff - books, great grandfather's books, grandfather's books, father's books and my books. Floor to ceiling, double stacked reproducing like triffids.

A fabric store waiting to be stitched. But patterns are so expensive now and I'm no longer a size 6. So there's all the old patterns too.

A fair few scarves - they date back forty years - and a shed full of wood which might come in useful for bat boxes or bug boxes or toy chests or.....

I don"t think you need more than 6 pairs of knickers.

When I go on holiday I take three pairs , and rinse through !!

No, you're spot on, all of you. My name is Maggiemaybe and I'm a hoarder. There must be a support group somewhere.

My saving grace is that despite having a small house we have a big cellar, with shelving, and an awful lot of plastic storage boxes. My very tidy and organised DD1 despairs every time I buy more of them at Wilkos. I'm afraid the other 2 take after me!

I think that's the right word, Lona (but I'm not a pedant!). I am feeling very minimalistic as well, but I might upset the DC if I put the photos away.

Maggie, am I being very rude to suggest that the correct term for you would be a 'hoarder' rather than a collector? Mind you the idea of hoarding GC is quite appealing. I only have five.

Most of the above.
Shoes - I have 18 pairs in a box under my desk at work alone, I daren't begin to count how many at home.
Scarves - a box full. People buy me them, they look lovely, I never wear them.
Plastic bags - sorted by colour and kept in bigger plastic bags. Well, they could come in one day, couldn't they?
China - I collected 120 cup/saucer/plate sets from charity shops and car boot sales for DD2's wedding and they are just too pretty to get rid of.
Booze - beer in my case. I buy it for parties then guests bring more. I've just had to sort it into stacked boxes, with the most out-of-date bottles in the top one.
Books - I hate parting with any I enjoyed reading.
Knickers - I've just counted. 48 pairs.
Magazines - the pile is now 2 foot high, and there's another higher one in the cellar.

I'm going to end up having to tunnel my way into the house if I don't get a grip some time soon.

Sadly, I need to catch up on the grandchildren front - only 2 so far, but I have hopes of a larger collection in due course!

I have tried to be very disciplined about china. One best set, one 2nd best and the kitchen set. The rest went to the charity shop.

Oh, and some odds and ends of plates and dishes. And a teaset in the attic that belonged to my MIL. And I forgot the teasets in the display cabinet. Plus some of DD2's plates etc in the attic.

Must have a cull.

My guilty hoard is junk jewellery, I knew I had a bag of it stashed away but now I've found a box with even more in it. I ought to take it to a charity shop but I keep thinking that if I buy any new clothes I might suddenly need some of it.

China. I have three 'best' sets and one everyday.
I don't entertain anymore and if I do it's it's waitrose buffet with paper plates.

Can you ever have .... too many Christmas cards? I must say I love Christmas cards and look forward to them arriving. I used to like getting letters too and postcards, but hardly anyone sends them now, it's all email and phoning.

If you count the 'steps' we have ten but no GGC yet! Christmas is _ very_ expensive!!
