There was an article in the Weekend section of The Telegraph on Saturday June 7th about people getting married later in life. I had intended to keep the article but forgot! I have searched online but can't find it. Have any of you still got the newspaper? If so, I would be very happy if you could send me a link to it

Elegran - you're a genius, thank you so much. I had meant to show it to my OH, we have been together for years without getting married and this put everything in a different light! Thank you so much x

The article states exactly why I gave in and married DBH. Before that, after being married to Ex, it was once bitten, twice shy. But the whole thing is so unimportant to us that I have trouble remembering the date, and really cannot remember which year without a lot of thought! We both regularly forget our anniversary.

Just checked, we are coming up to our 9th.

That's our situation too jane, marriage the second time around never appealed to either of us but as we get older it seems to make sense with regard particularly to the inheritance tax. I had never thought about just making the marriage "ceremony" a casual appointment, always thought that it would be such a performance and effort, but I like the idea of nipping out to do it and not telling a soul

We did have have DCs with us, and a witness, but no-one else knew. We went to Loch Fyne for lunch, it was very low-key, but the following night we treated ourselves to a meal at the Winchester Hotel du Vin.

My sisters were very put out, but honestly I think that most people were relieved to be spared the expense associated with today's weddings.
