They couldn't both have gone as they also have a 3 year old and I thought I saw "her" clearly as she turned out of her drive (which is screened by our hedge) on to the pavement which isn't! She (?) was sort of bending forward over the pram pushing it the way she does when she walks the older boy to pre-school and in response to the other question her husband is one of those young men with actually very little hair. I still think I was right so maybe they were out twice!

Reconstructive memory is notorious for filling in gaps with what you expect to see. Could he have had a scarf or blanket slung across his shoulders that might have passed for long hair? I think more sleuthing is required. Get your bag of knitting out and go round on some pretext. Report back at 12.00 hours

I think maybe your second suggestion might be it Harrigran. Not the wig though!! I even recognised the way she walks pushing the pram.
Last night about 10.30 I was shutting the curtains in our room when I heard "serious" baby crying, a door slammed and saw our lovely neighbour let's call her Rachel striding down her drive with 6 month old son in his pram bawling fit to burst. Aha I thought she can't get him off to sleep, once round the village should do the trick! Now Rachel has long blonde hair and our road is well lit so when I saw her todwy looking frazzled I enquired sympathetically how many circuits it had taken to get him off. She assured me that it had been her husband Tom who had taken the baby out and he had got even louder before eventually falling asleep. I am just puzzled. I am sure of what I saw - but why say otherwise? Obviously I left it at that but wonder if I would be any use whatsoever as a witness should the occasion arise!
