Had the same thing in London on Sunday. In a taxi, and wing mirrors clipped with another car. Appalling and aggressive youth coming and threatening driver, when he was 90% to blame! Drove very fast, didn't give taxi driver much time to respond and then bullyingly aggressive.

I always drive with my doors locked.

He actually hit her? That's shocking if he did and I hope the police do take action against him.

Blimey nina this happened to me today at the entrance to the Tyne Tunnel. The stupid $rsehole lorry driver chopped lanes seconds before the entrance to the tunnel and I had to do an EMERGENCY STOP !
Sadly there would be no contest between my Mini and an articulated lorry driven by a complete idiot!

Happened to my friend at the Tyne tunnel too but he rammed her Ka, driver not British and caused no end of bother trying to get him/company to own up.

Yes Holly he physically assaulted her. I'm a bit puzzled as to how they were both stopped as I don't know the exact location.
The police are visiting her this morning. I will update the thread later.

How come so many people see their vehicle as a weapon, as their journey as the most important one on the road at any given time. How come so many men (sorry men, but it usually is men) are aggressive behind the wheel of a car. And misogynist as well. Rant for the day

Rage, road or otherwise, seems to be on the increase these days. Even walking along the road rage. I witnessed a man screaming at an elderly woman because she accidently bumped into him. She was petrified but luckily another chap stopped him and kindly escorted the lady away. It was horrible.

ninathena - I am genuinely shocked to hear that, I do hope your friend is okay and has recovered somewhat from the incident. I know getting 'cut up' can be irritating when it happens (I'm not saying this is what your friend actually did) but it's no excuse to be physically violent to another person; it's just a motoring journey for goodness sake.

It certainly is. I was involved in 'supermarket trolley rage' not too long ago. I youngish woman came flying around one tall fixture (the fixtures in our local supermarket must be about 7ft high so there was no way I could see her coming or her see me) and we only managed to miss quite a forceful collision because I moved my shopping trolley out of the way - just. I did give her a sour look as she should have been more careful. She went ballistic! I am not easily intimidated so I ranted back at her and asked how she would have felt had that been a young child she had smashed to the floor. She went off muttering but each time we met again during the shop, she glared at me as if it was my fault! No problem, I just glared straight back at her.

I can only assume that some people feel their time is more precious than anyone else's.

Ive not driven through the new Tyne Tunnel and im scared to do so, even more since reading these posts!! Im a nervous driver at the vest of times so I think I will make the longer detour via A1 if I need to be in South Tyneside anytime. Much prefer pottering around country lanes near home

I find it easier than it was before, Silverfish, because you do not get dazzled by cars which have full headlights on. Nobody coming in the opposite direction. I also only drive on the A1 as little as possible between the North and South banks of the Tyne.

My friend was interviewed by a DC yesterday and he apparently indicated that the driver is in deep doodoo. They will be interviewing the driver tomorrow. Watch this space

This instant anger thing does seem to be getting worse doesn't it?I know there is more traffic on the roads, but as noticed [on other threads] people seem more willing these days to verbally abuse total strangers at the drop of a hat, or at the clashing of a shopping trolley.Not nice.

That is good news ninathenana - I know it won't help your friend's experience to vanish but it might just stop him doing it someone else if he's held to account for his outrageous actions.
