anno I never use the A34 when I drive to Oxford....which I am doing less and less actually.....I hate it!
I am tired and still full of lunch - relaxing and drinking tea now.

annodomini Sat 24-May-14 19:25:48

Alie - I'm glad it all worked out well in the end. That A34 is a horrible road. If a jam is going to happen, it'll be there. It's such a relief to use the train nowadays to visit the family.

They were delayed but got here eventually about 2 hours late - (I did have a snack!) and we kept phoning the pub to say we are going to be late but they didn't seem to mind, and we all had a good lunch very late - I got back about 6.30! All home now and I think we all enjoyed it.

Sunny here in Essex this morning, but was very wet this morning. The forecast is not too good either for the week ahead, mainly showers. Our daughter and her boyfriend are coming over for tea and was hoping to sit in the garden, but a bit too chilly.

annsixty Sat 24-May-14 13:28:02

Oh dear AlieOxon I hope you have a snack in and that you can make dinner plans instead. sad

And breathe! Dragonfly. brew

AlieOxon Sat 24-May-14 13:22:08

Oh, sympathies, Dragonfly!

My sister's boyfriend just rang to say they are stuck on the A34, nothing moving, accident somewhere in front.....

Dragonfly1 Sat 24-May-14 12:26:33

Anno, Greenfinch, Agus, thank you. smile. I'm home, soaked through, exhausted, bloodied but not defeated!

AlieOxon Sat 24-May-14 12:11:59

My sister's birthday today and she should be here in about an hour to pick me up...going to have lunch in Oxford.

(Duh - the trousers I planned to wear are so big I have had to put a safety pin in! I must have lost some more weight....hope it doesn't show....)

Warm and sunny here in Brussels at the moment, but rain for later I think, I am doing a bacon Buttie breakfast in St Andrews COS here tomorrow for Christian Aid with a friend, so hoping for a good turnout.

Gagagran Sat 24-May-14 11:45:27

Thanks ruby - hope yours goes well too! flowers

We are doing ours again next Wednesday in a neighbouring village. We've got some community singing in the concert, some individual performers and of course the choir will be performing the stuff we have been rehearsing for weeks and weeks!

I need to get my rollers in now so I can put my hair in Victory Rolls (or an approximation thereof!). Thank goodness for You-tube which shows how to do them.

Have been child/toddler caring for ten days and I'm off home today for a well earned rest. Happily my manager has given me the Bank Holiday off too. The weather here in Twickenham is cool, cloudy and off and on rain. I hear it's not much better at home. Can't wait to see my garden and to be away from the constant air plane noise as they land or take off from nearby Heathrow.

rubysong Sat 24-May-14 11:26:43

Morning everyone. I hope your concert goes well gaga . We have a 1914 themed concert here tonight and, along with two friends, I am dressing as a suffragette and singing 'March of the women'. We did it in the next village on Thursday which seemed appropriate as we had just been to vote.

annodomini Sat 24-May-14 10:42:21

Grey and breezy, though dry, here - have still to get out of my PJs! Phone call from DS2 from wet Exeter en route to Salcombe - novice campers! He has bought loads of equipment, so let's hope they enjoy it and have good weather.

harrigran Sat 24-May-14 10:29:07

Good morning, grey, damp and quite chilly. I think I will catch up on jobs in the house if I can get off this computer smile

Agus Sat 24-May-14 10:25:04

Dull here today but at least it's dry.

GDs camping at Loch Lomond this weekend and having a ball. Hope it stays dry for them.

Sympathies Dragonfly flowers

Greenfinch Sat 24-May-14 10:15:02

Enough to try anyone's patience Dragonfly! flowers

annodomini Sat 24-May-14 09:46:24

Dragonfly, that's so trying for you. You deserve some flowers and ((((hugs)))).

Raining in S Staffs. Dreading this morning. Have monumental shopping list to get for Dad, and when I take it I just know he's going to have a go at me for saying I can't get him into my car to visit the bank - which I can't! He's 91, falls over, can't stand up once he's sat down - and despite having this conversation a hundred times since he gave up driving his own car (higher, bigger than mine) he still thinks I should provide a taxi service on demand. And my stepmother, who really is the most difficult person I've ever known, will be vile to me. Again. sad

Good morning all, we have a dry morning here on the south coast, but rain is promised throughout the region, so we shall probably have rain later. We seem to be quite lucky in this little niche, weather-wise, the rain sometimes just misses us. Not a lot planned after a disastrous competition at bowls yesterday, licking my wounds today, but someone has to lose, - not sure why it has to be me! Enjoy your days.

Lona Sat 24-May-14 08:16:25

Good morning folks, it's dry here for now, but I think a wet afternoon is inevitable.
I'm going to get a new 'bistro set' tomorrow, for my garden, so if it rains all weekend it's my fault! grin

besottedgran Sat 24-May-14 08:02:04

Good morning, everyone.

Dull start today here in Fife.

Pipe Band Contest in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline this afternoon ("the Glen") so hope the rain holds off!

Brendawymms Sat 24-May-14 07:31:49

Morning all from a very wet East Sussex. The agricultural show is up and running with cars already in the car park. It always seems to rain on show day. Lots of people coming to lunch today so had better get started. I have the porridge already!

Nelliemoser Sat 24-May-14 07:29:57

Good morning from Norfolk just for a change. Looking a bit grey over the north sea. With my geology group we are off to investigate what are internationally important sites which show the effects of glaciation on sedimentary structures in the Norfolk cliffs.
Whatever floats your boat as they say. Have a good day.

kittylester Sat 24-May-14 07:18:54

Good morning all!

Dull and overcast here in North Leicestershire and the forecast isn't brilliant! I have my usual Saturday morning walk into the village to do so I hope the rain holds off until I get back.

Enjoy your days everyone!
