Let's hear it for our girls! Hope the success stories keep coming. Let's raise a toast to all of them!

My DD is, as she often tells me, a world leader in her field. But she has continued her career through financial necessity and would really much rather be at home playing with the children. Failing that she would like to move down to Cornwall and make pots - but that's not going to happen either!

Well done pens DD and Micem DD, my DD is on maternity leave at the moment but has just nailed a promotion which she has worked hard for, she also did her degree while working full time and had two small children.

My DD1 has just cracked the glass ceiling. She has had two sets of GPs rushing to help and on occasions I have sorrowed for her children .DD2 is setting up her own business and is doing brilliantly. Mumsnet is using her expertise! I think this generation of young women are amazing

I find it very reassuring to know that some young families are still willing to make the financial sacrifice involved if they're in a position to do it. Well done - things may get a bit tight occasionally but I bet they'll have no regrets.
To those who aren't in that position and 2 jobs are needed, I really hope they have supportive GPs nearby.

My DD decided when she had her 1st born to take a career break [was a bank manager, my DAD was flabbergasted "Women are NOT bank managers"--his words !! ]

Then No 2 came along, so she just carried on , and enjoys every minute!

SIL earns enough for her to do this , so everything in the garden is lovely !

Whether she will go back when they are older I don"t know ?

Well done her- it can be very hard to get back into the job market after years with kids. I went back to full time studying at Uni first, after 9 years at home- and know it is not easy. Will you be close to give a hand when needed? Bravo.

My darling daughter has done the same! She did want to tech part time, but the school timetable meant that working halftime meant she had to be in the school 4 days a week. This was because the lessons she taught would be at the beginning and end of each day!
I thought they were short of science teachers?

Being a f/t Mum is a joy and a proper job....I know I'm talking to the converted in here but its not the case everywhere. My darling D has left her 'paid' job to concentrate for a few years of her two children. She and her husband are financially only just managing but she felt it was important to give them a really good start (she worked until her youngest was one).
On renewing her car insurance she was told that as she was now 'unemployed' her quote would be higher....I was beyond words!!

Feeling proud IS allowed.

Just heard that my DD2 has been promoted to manager of the restaurant where she's worked for 6 months. Doubly happy for her as she looks forward to her civil partnership in July. So congrats to both of you Pen. Lovely to get such good news when we know they've worked hard.
