Good morning all on Good Friday. Sunny and bright in East Sussex. Little voices are already up and arguing. Deep joy.

Good morning. Decidedly chilly here this morning and rather too many clouds. The Aylesbury family are arriving this afternoon, followed by the rest tomorrow plus friends. It's our house's 100th birthday party (and was DH's 70th last month - but he doesn't want a fuss) so what am I doing sitting here when there's a spare bed that needs unburying (not to mention the rest of the house - does anyone else have my problem with half read newspapers and mags?)

NfkDumpling Fri 18-Apr-14 07:29:12

And now it's raining. Apparently Norfolk is the driest part of England, but whenever my SiL comes here - it rains. Their family holidays here are doomed! (And we'd planned a BBQ for tomorrow!)

Good morning all. It's a lovely sunny day here in Derbyshire. I'm staying in for most of the day as it's hubby's birthday & family will be coming to see him. I plan on mowing the lawn & cleaning the windows ... Out for a meal tonight with son & daughter in law to celebrate.

Have a good day all. smile

A sunny start to Good Friday here in Colchester.
A bit too quiet here though as DH has once again gone away hill walking and DS is not back from his week away until tonight. Waiting for DD1 and DGS to pop round later when we will brave the shops....hope everyone is not panic buying as they seem to do when the shops are going to be closed for one day!!

Happy Easter everyone. tbusmile

Good morning all, sunny here on the south coast. Can't believe it is Good Friday already, where has the time gone. Off to get a little shopping later on, not too much, as I have to walk whilst the other half recovers from his hernia repair, but I shall enjoy that, looking at peoples' gardens is always interesting. Enjoy your days, everyone.

Charleygirl Fri 18-Apr-14 08:42:17

Sunny but very cold in NW London. It feels as though Christmas was only a couple of weeks ago.

Oldgreymare Fri 18-Apr-14 08:43:19

Mornin' All.
Recently departed visitor mentioned that her Dad always planted potatoes on Good Friday, so, guess what we're doing today! hmm

kittylester Fri 18-Apr-14 08:54:31

Good morning all!

A lovely bright start in North Leicestershire but it looks as though it is a bit chilly. We are having a lazy start today as we drove to York and back yesterday and the traffic was awful!

When I eventually get going I need to visit the butcher this morning and Mum this afternoon.

Enjoy your days everyone sunshine

annsixty Fri 18-Apr-14 09:07:50

Ogm the Good Friday potato planting was a family tradition in DH's family and has no logic of course as it can be such different dates but they did it anyway.

Oldgreymare Fri 18-Apr-14 09:19:56

No logic in this family either annsixty!!!!!smile

AlieOxon Fri 18-Apr-14 09:31:22

Mornin' all.
Cold and bright. The car saga continues - just back from its MOT and I don't want to drive it, as it is running very rough.
No idea what it is and garage says noone can look at it until at least Tuesday............and they haven't even rung back about it yet as promised.

I hate cars. Actually I hate being dependent on the d thing.
Grump.

Good morning from NE Cheshire where it's sunny and fresh. Big bags of compost due to be delivered last evening haven't appeared. So will have to chase!

Soutra Fri 18-Apr-14 10:32:21

Good morning on a typically sunny but cold Good Friday! Rain forecast so need to get on with planting some lavender to repair where I have over-pruned and maybe do a lavender edge to the border. No family around tbusad as one DD and SIL at a wedding in Zagreb, one plus little boys still on holiday in Cyprus and middle one having just finished one play in Stratford (she is a designer) is frantically trying to crack on with one for the National in a very few weeks. Seeing her +BF and dog on Sunday when Easter Bunny delivers eggs to London though tbusmile. Wishing you all a Happy Easter wekend

HollyDaze Fri 18-Apr-14 10:50:14

Good morning.

Bright sunny start with not a cloud in the sky smile - still a tad cool but should warm up.

Gagagran Fri 18-Apr-14 10:52:22

We've just been to the garden centre and bought a deep blue planter - 10 year guaranteed from frost damage. Also bought a pack of long canes and have planted 4 sweet pea plants to grow up the tripod I've made. Well there are 4 canes so is that a quatrapod? I have an ideal corner spot for it and it looks well now DH has heaved it into position. I love sweet peas and hope for a good show. sunshine

AlieOxon Fri 18-Apr-14 11:49:17

Forget the car.
I have had my garden sprinkler on for the broad beans, since we haven't had any actual rain for days. Also watering outside pots.

annodomini Fri 18-Apr-14 11:55:28

Have chased the compost (what a picture that conjures!) and the DiY shop had van problems yesterday. It will arrive this afternoon which leaves me with no excuse to ignore a planter waiting to be filled.
