As you seem to have enjoyed the Limerick thread and produced some great ones, I thought it would be time for something a bit different which I found on www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html which is full of good ideas. I thought we would start with this type and then move onto something harder.

ALPHABET:
Each line begins with the letters of the alphabet in order.

An example - A young girl was busy working on her project for school
But suddenly she had a question.
Could this be her lucky day?
Deciding to find out, she
Entered her backyard and
Found hundreds of green shamrocks waiting for her.

Vociferous orders reached the ears of Sir G and he went ambling off in search of the fruit - Duffy waited

Ugli fruit might be a good option. At this point Duffy remembered the old wise saying 'dogs have masters and cats have servants' so why not send Sir G off hunting for said fruit whilst Duffy put his paws up and had a siesta. grin

Usually, of course, he'd eat them raw, but GIANT ones might be a bit much...

Thought Duffy, wondering what is best to serve with campfire cooked rat

So nice to have a change of menu, thought Duffy, licking her lips,

Reading a battered copy of a tabloid newspaper warning us about an infestation of Giant rats.

Quite out of reach

papaoscar Thu 17-Apr-14 12:08:15

Pussies galore in a pea-green boat waving their Whiskas pouches.

HollyDaze Thu 17-Apr-14 09:25:04

Over on the horizon, Duffy can see

Nelliemoser Thu 17-Apr-14 08:44:27

Nicely full after his sumptuous meal Duffy sets off to see what havoc he can wreak on the indigenous wildlife. Being a cat what else can he do?

ninathenana Thu 17-Apr-14 08:30:01

(ah, just noticed NanaKate says he)

ninathenana Thu 17-Apr-14 08:28:54

Munching happily Duffy surveyed her surroundings

(have we established Duffy's gender? )

Lovely stuff thought Duffy as he kicked his lips. Sir Galahad was turning into a decent cook. Lightly grilled Komodo Dragon, what could be better ? hmm

NanKate Thu 17-Apr-14 06:54:15

(Wanted to say yummie but my super intelligent IPad thought differently sorry).

NanKate Thu 17-Apr-14 06:51:30

Kit Kat flavoured cat food was what Duffy really wanted yummiest. tbusmile

Just how is it that you don`t know about Whiskas pouches, Duffy? So much easier for a pussy to cope with.

Nelliemoser Wed 16-Apr-14 23:05:10

Independent minded as Duffy was, this time he felt he needed some human company as he could not open his own tin of Whiskas.

Harrumphing under his breath about Alphabet Greediness as he smiled...

Fearsome friend

Glad to make your acquaintance!

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 22:30:47

Did someone say dragon shock

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 22:29:18

Cats are very intelligent creatures I'll have you know.

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 22:27:09

Creeping up, though, was a very smelly old Comodo dragon

Cressida Wed 16-Apr-14 21:24:15

By staying close to Duffy the wonder cat

Grannyknot Wed 16-Apr-14 21:18:32

Amazement was what she felt as it dawned on her what she could achieve.

Zest, is what the rum'll give us.
