As you seem to have enjoyed the Limerick thread and produced some great ones, I thought it would be time for something a bit different which I found on www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html which is full of good ideas. I thought we would start with this type and then move onto something harder.

ALPHABET:
Each line begins with the letters of the alphabet in order.

An example - A young girl was busy working on her project for school
But suddenly she had a question.
Could this be her lucky day?
Deciding to find out, she
Entered her backyard and
Found hundreds of green shamrocks waiting for her.

'Don't tell me you've changed the spelling of your name,' said Sir G. 'Make up your mind - is it Xavier or Zavier?' The horse looked very confused.

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 18:34:51

Challenged by Zavier, about the quality of the stable provision, Sir G had been reduced to a quivering wreck.

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 18:22:17

"But...but...but...but...but" stammered Sir G

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 18:19:33

"Actually" said Xavier feeling rather sorry for himself. "The quality of straw bedding in my own stable is far superior to this stuff."

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 18:13:31

"Zoots" exclaimed Xavier, this straw bed needs a bit of a shake.

Zebras don't like this....but they don't get hoarse..........

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 18:09:45

"Yoghurt and honey will soon fix that", said Sir G, and ordered four litres from the Equine vet.

Daisyanswerdo Sat 19-Apr-14 17:47:44

Xavier settled down in his straw bed. He had a cough and didn't feel like watching tv. He was just a little hoarse.

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 17:24:48

"Wherever!" said Xavier grumpily, "it's not my fault. There are no Komodo Dragons here but there are dangerously aggressive Honey badgers, I saw a program about them on Television last night."

Sir G had installed a television in Xaviers stable so he could watch the racing.

Via Xanadu, if necessary!

U turn everyone I am determined to get to the pyramid by nightfall.

Flowerofthewest Sat 19-Apr-14 15:52:58

Table Top Mountain they exclaimed, we came further than we thought.....

Stopping only for a roadside picnic of curried Komodo, the intrepid trio soon saw a familiar landmark on the distant horizon.

NanKate Sat 19-Apr-14 15:37:41

Right on cue who should be galloping along the road but Sir. G and his faithful horse Xavier. Duffy thought any port in a storm and flagged Sir G down and suggested a detour to the Pyramid.

Sir G being a bit thick had not heard of the Great Pyramid of Giza (and thought it was part of a Theme Park) but was happy to give Duffy a lift. Sir G just hoped that Xavier had brought the sat nav with him.

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 15:32:10

Quite oblivious of the fact that Elephants are vegetarian and do not eat meat, when Duffy offered them the Komodo Dragon curry, the Elephants were so offended they dropped Duffy off by the roadside. He had missed his flight to Giza.

NanKate Sat 19-Apr-14 14:53:56

Pyramid of Giza yes that would be his next adventure. 'Which Pyramid do you want?' Asked the elephant. 'The great pyramid of Giza of course'.

papaoscar Sat 19-Apr-14 14:41:21

"Oh, my goodness" Duffy thought when he/she looked at the Curry House menu and noticed top of the list was Kitty Vindaloo "Better get out of this fast!" Hailing a passing elephant taxi he whispered urgently "Here's a comado dragon sandwich, Jumbo, get me to the airport pronto and I'll give you two of these!"

janerowena Sat 19-Apr-14 12:28:27

Naïve as he was, it had never entered his head that potentially he would be the main ingredient in aforementioned curry.

soop Sat 19-Apr-14 12:20:01

"My goodness", he sighed as he prowled around the Taj Mahal..."this place looks rather grand. I must try to look important so that I'm invited in for a tasty curry..."

Nelliemoser Sat 19-Apr-14 09:24:43

Leaving the wretched Komodo dragons and Ugli fruit behind, a thankful Duffy set off for the Taj Mahal, to seek new adventures. Good luck Duffy!

NanKate Sat 19-Apr-14 06:48:20

(Komodos) it's not me this IPad has a mind of its own. I think it is set to predictive text. confused

NanKate Sat 19-Apr-14 06:46:01

Karma fell over Duffy as he realised that it was now time to go travelling, not to some piddling island full of Komods, but to places of interest that he often looked at on Sir G's IPad.

The Taj Mahal it would be. He had to be careful though as he knew cat was a delicacy in those parts.

papaoscar Sat 19-Apr-14 05:40:32

Jumping Jeosphat, thought poor old Duffy, they've left me behind again. Wait for me!

Ana Fri 18-Apr-14 22:09:16

(No - I got that wrong, sorry! blush And that's without the benefit of sparkliness...)

Ana Fri 18-Apr-14 22:07:07

(I've retrospectively inserted the missing 'I' which you missed out, NanKate wink)
