London Marathon

That's terrific Ariadne many congratulations to your son. Congratulations to everyone else who has taken part in, and completed, this amazing feat.

My youngest son (43) ran it today - having flown in from Florida yesterday! He managed just under four hours, and I am SO proud of him.

Thank you Felice and well done to Ginny's DD and all the other fantastic people who take part and fund raise for the best marathon in the world.

My DD completed in 4 h. 8m. beating her previous best. She has had a number of health problems over the last year, not least being diagnosed with coeliac. We are so proud of her strength and determination. Very emotional at the end, so next with the tissues please as she is due here in about an hour for a family celebration meal. Hope she can stay awake long enough.

Totally in awe of my DiL who has just completed the London Marathon in 4hrs 33mins and has raised over £2,500 for Wateraid. How she has managed to train whilst working full time and being a wonderful wife and mother of two I have no idea. I am so proud of her.

Sorry Rooting, blurry eyes

DS1 ran it twice 20 years ago, he is Autistic and it was wonderful, all the other runners were so supportive to him. I have just watched it with DGS and he can't figure out why Grandma keeps blowing her nose and wiping her eyes !! My cousins DDs partner is running so we are all rotting for him, good luck to all who do the memories will be with you forever. Blast where is that tissue.

Overtraining is bad, bags It wears out the settee springs.

@jamiesont: Quietly confident about making it to the end of today's London marathon after months of training watching other telly shows.

I haven't even done that training. Off out to yank some brambles and lop some rhododendron. In the rain.

And lets hear it for Paul 89 and Iva 86 who are both running today. Paul is the oldest runner and she said she keeps fit enough to run marathons because: "I just like being out of doors"

Should have said warm morning good for the elite runners who tend to train in Africa etc. Bit tough on those who are going to run for much longer.

Fantastic elite field in mens and women's races with Tiranesh Debaba and Mo Farah both very much juniors in the world of top class marathons. Chris Brasher would be delighted. So I'll be watching those races on the TV. Forecast is for a nice dry sunny morning - and not the warm side for April. Great for all concerned.
