unfortunately for me my grandchildren live in Sweden but, my neice has 2-delightful (just joking) in fact they are boys as they should be and I so love them. Anyway, talking to them both about sewing seeds in the garden, the elder one who is an absolute chocaholic turned to me and said " Aunty, can you please get me some chocolate seeds" bless him, how their small minds work

Dragonfly1 you may find it easier to spread the jacket out on the bed with it facing you, then walk round the bed and follow the procedure of putting your arms in the sleeves, then raise you arms above your head flicking the jacket over your head and it should fall into place.

I've just done it, feeling the need to prove that I'm as accomplished as any three year old.

It involved a few moments of panicked struggle with my coat wrapped round my head whilst I knelt on the floor. I just hope none of my neighbours passed the window and glanced in at the crucial moment.

I've just tried this. I couldn't even work out how to follow your instructions. I ended up with my parka on upside down. I'm a lost cause.

My grandchildren both learnt this at nursery when only two. I can never remember which way round the coat goes on the ground. My own children couldn't lay the table, not understanding that the place opposite had to have knife and fork the other way round. My grandchildren all seem cleverer than previous generations. Is that evolution?

Not a genius but just a very observant child who copies anything he sees.

I asked him what he was doing when playing with grapes on his plate he said 'I'm drawing Orion's Belt'. I better gen up on my astronomy !

However he finds colours and numbers a bit tricky.

Just off for 4 days with the boys, no doubt I will be taught a few more things that my GS thinks will help me. What a laugh and aren't we grandparents privileged to enjoy time with our GCs, not everyone gets this opportunity ?

Re the coat thing.. it is quite a well used strategy in nurseries to train kids to put coats on. Ok as long as it is indoors and not on muddy ground! It is a good way and clever boy for remembering it!

Yes my grandson is extremely forward, he is only 6 and as I was having a conversation about finances with my husband, my grandson over heard, and added to our conversation by saying "its not all about money" at 6 years old!
