Revolts

I'd be surprised if there was anyone on Gransnet who hasn't revolted at some time or other!

Keep it up, Flickety. Subversion is important, but I don't think you are at all 'revolting'.

In my youth, the phrase often used to describe me was 'awkward and difficult'. This was because my childhood was a succession of mini-revolts as I refused to mindlessly conform or questioned something I had been told to do and could see no reason for.

I never dramatically revolted nor was I ever a demonstrator. I just refused to conform. My best friend from school, a lawyer, once told me that she had been described by a legal friend as 'deeply subversive', she looked at me and said 'you and me, both'.

All my life if ever I think I am on a band wagon beginning to roll I have jumped off.

I am currently revolting and questioning the mindless categorisation of older people or indeed any sweeping statements that begin 'Everybody', 'All' or 'Age appropriate'. That has probably been fairly obvious on Gransnet

Lots of protests, some small some bigger but I have always complainedm about anything I think is unfair. Every time I write to my MP she seems to think I a writing about me! Can't get through to her that I am concerned about the general good. Suspect she has a series of 'researchers' who answer for her.

Well I was a teacher once upon a time and I refused to strike as a student because I was grateful for what we had and didn't feel we should ask for more. When I worked in the media, luckily there were strikes in my section. I did have a mini revolt at school when I was bullied by a teacher - I hammered in the staff room door and stayed there until the teacher in question would face me. He did eventually and I said my piece.

CND; Anti Vietnam war are 2 protests I can thnk of but I don't recall ever going on strike thankfully

No! What I did was to run away because I objected to having to go to bed at 7.00. I packed my cat in suitcase and got as far as the allotments and realised that I didn't have enough food for me let alone the cat and I had to go home.

I think I must have marched with you at some point in the last 40 years Penstemmon, I've done all of those and then some.

I have been revolting for as long as I can remember! Started by hiding live hens in my wardrobe as a child to prevent them being turned into my dinner. Greenham, CND, miners, poll tax, Clause 28, public service cuts, Iraq war etc..... and that does not include local issues and the WI campaigns..

Can't remember if I have revolted, but I've done a lot of protesting.
In my youth it was circuses.
I belonged to a print union for many years, so I did a lot of protesting.
I have stood in the street against fox hunting, marched against the pole tax ( that was scary) marched for the miners.
Ongoing protester against dirty toilets in public buildings.
