Books for 7 year old boy - recommendations please!

Terry Pratchett, the gnome trilogy (Truckers, Diggers & Wings) also Johnny and the Bomb, Only You can Save Mankind. Very much enjoyed by my DS's at a similar age.

My 7 year old grandson loves The Secrets of Droon series by Tony Abbott.

Hello Kitty. You say your grandson is a confident reader so I will recommend a series for boys and girls 8+ they are written by award winning author Chris Bradford.

His first main series is called 'Young Samurai' all set in Japan in the 16 th century, there is excitement, adventure,martial arts and a lot of emotion. Have a look on Amazon books to read some of the rave reviews.

His new modern day series is called 'Bodyguard' the first book in the series 'Bodyguard - Hostage' has just won The Brilliant book Award 2014.

As you can see I am passionate about children's literature.

If you think these books are a little to advanced for your grandson Andy Briggs books about Tarzan are fun.

Nankate, Se b can read anything and everything put in front of him and, while he understands everything, he is not really mature enough to enjoy the emotional aspect of stuff! He went off Harry Potter when the burgeoning love started!

David Walliams's books have a good range of vocabulary but don't demand emotional maturity.

Perfectly understand about the emotional bit, maybe when he is a bit older you could try Chris Bradford's books - the Young Samurai series is a classic of the future.

I think you should be ok with the Andy Briggs stories.

If your grandson likes humouress stories the books by Eoin Colfer are great.

DGS2 aged 7, says his favourites are "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, he has read them all, and "Beast Quest" series.

Catherine Cooper writes children's books, we have bought some which we are saving until our grandson is a bit older (he is 5 at the moment)

I also just saw some adaptations of Charles Dickens's books by Gill Tavner in a museum shop (they were rather pricey but also available on Amazon)

My 7 and 8 year old GCs are fans of the Deadly 60 BBC programme with Steve Backshall - his books are full of fascinating facts

Anything by David Walliams. And Horrible Histories.
