Film remakes

But they've never done the story of Noah before, have they? Could be quite exciting, I think we will go and see it.

I hate remakes, they always seem to spoil the story. I like a film that has a start, a middle and an end and you know where the story is going. Recently I have watched films where one minute they are in the present day and then back twenty years or so and then back to the present. Dear me it all gets very confusing.

Yes, I remember Danny Kaye and the Walter Mitty film. I also saw other films with Danny Kaye in them and enjoyed them all as a child. I don't think they can be copied very well.

Anyone remember the talented Danny Kaye? And especially a film he made called "Walter Mitty"? I saw the recent re-make starring Ben Stiller and it was absolute pants! I like Ben Stiller very much, but this film was a travesty.

I thought that was Moses? (The ten commandments)

I have 2 films that I think are a travisty to have been remade.

David Niven in 'The Bishop's Wife' was remade into The Preacher's Wife' starring Denzil Washington and Whitney Houston and the wonderful 'An affair to Remember' starring Carry Grant and Deborah Kerr was remade, loosely, into 'Sleeping in Seattle'.

I remember the Ten Commandments too, I've always loved those old 'Bible films'.
For me remakes are never as good.

The Ten Commandments was the first film I ever saw. It was very long but apparently sis and I were entranced.
I think very often - almost always - remakes are a disappointment. Can't think of one that was actually better than the original. Hollywood likes remakes because they are easier to sell.
