What would you have done?

Mine was a size bigger than my friends apricot - she looked fabulous, I looked a bit like a tank next to her!

Mine would have been several sizes bigger than Kate's.

I went to Christmas party, to find a close friend in the same frock as me. We are very similar in lots of ways, and laughed, then had some photographs taken to mark this event.

The only slightly iffy thing I ever saw at a wedding was when a guest wore a long white flouncy dress, looked rather like a wedding dress, thought that was a bit odd. The person concerned always did like to be centre stage mind you, even at somebody else's wedding.

I was at a dance with hubby to be, shortly before our wedding, and came face to face with a girl wearing the same dress as me, we looked at each other, both said "snap!" and moved on.

Oh but they did, the photo, I mean.
My mother and MIL wore identical hats at my wedding and it did not bother me one iota. It only sticks in my mind because people keep saying " do you remember both mams wearing the same hat ?"

She should have asked the Duchess if they could have a photo taken of them together! I bet she would have said 'yes' and laughed about it

Iam64 Yes I agree, normally the bride would not notice or care what her guests were wearing, provided of course that they were appropriately attired, not wearing beach clothes or something like that.
But if one of your guests was the Duchess of Cambridge I think you might take a little more notice!
Of course if one of your guests were the Princess Royal then you would expect the outfit to be at least 25 years old

To close family members, about the same age wore the same dresss to DS's wedding. He had also sat them and families on the same table. The funny thing was, no one noticed, including myself, because they wore completely different types of jacket and accessories! Both looked fabulous! X

It's the media hype innit

Aged about 21 I went to a wedding wearing a Louis Feraud outfit (it cost a massive 13 guineas) and found it hilarious that a woman 2x my age was wearing the same. She didn't find it at all amusing and went home after the service and changed into something different for the reception . I don't think a bride would even notice what her guests were wearing as she'd be far too busy being nervous/enjoying her day; I certainly couldn't tell you what any of the guests at my wedding was wearing apart from my Mum who was in glorious deep pink - matching everything - and my cousin who turned up in a Norwegian sweater and a pair of jeans !

I wonder if we have any aristocrats or really posh people on this forum.

That reminds me of a bride in USA whose mother bought an outfit to wear to her wedding only to find that her ex husband's new wife had bought the same outfit to wear. The bride asked her mother if she would change her outfit and the mother, not wanting to upset her daughter did just that. Her daughter asked her if she had any trouble at the store returning the other one. Her mother told her she had kept both as she would wear her original choice at the rehearsal!

Why would a bride be miffed that a guest arrived in an outfit that wasn't brand new janeainsworth? I was impressed by your link, and enjoyed seeing that outfit on so many outings.

Does it really matter?

Reminds me of the story about Mrs Thatcher being worried that she might turn up to some state function in the same outfit as the Queen, and an underling was charged with discreetly finding out what the Queen would be wearing.
The crushing reply came back that Her Majesty never noticed what others wore

Rosequartz It's from the Missoni 2010 collection apparently so she probably got it on eBay
