No - no Snow white jokes about letting him have an extra half hour! I mean when you just wake up in a mood irritated by the slightest thing and it just doesn't lift! Paast being hormonal and slept well enough. Anybody else been there? How do you "snap" out of it?

SWIM!

rosesarered Sun 30-Mar-14 20:39:19

wait a mo, the crab is Cancer isn't it? Ok, can you swin like a fish? [or drink like one?] grin

rosesarered Sun 30-Mar-14 20:38:19

Does that mean you walk like a crab seasider? grin

Like you Storynanny I am close to the beach and head down there often even when the weather is poor. Being by the sea seems to lift my mood. Maybe because my star sign is Pisces grin

I wake up feeling over 80 and get younger as the day moves on.
I like to have something to look forward to and most days ther isn't anythng special, but as the day progresses I find pleasure in the simple things like cooking or shopping of meeting up with a good friend or reading GN.
Of course we are not goIng to feel like when we were children or in our 20s and in love.

It's not so bad now I'm retired but when I was working the S.O.[who only stays at weekends] would wake me up on Saturdays and Sunday [not deliberately but just by getting up early which is what he does]. And then, on Wednesday which was my day off in the week either the phone would ring or someone would knock on the door Grrr.

If I do wake up grumpy I go back to sleep. Living alone helps.

rosesarered Sat 29-Mar-14 20:39:35

Add me to that list as well tegan, I am so slow in the mornings now. Very interesting thought about the pmt isn't it? Because today felt very like it, so think I will keep a record jotted down somewhere, just to see if it works out!Honestly, pmt at our age? angry

susieb755 Sat 29-Mar-14 20:31:51

That is me too Tegan, I cannot bear even being spoken to for about the first half hour! I get up shoo the dogs out have a cup of tea while staring vacantly ay the birds in the garden and listen to john humphries et al for a half hour

Poor DGD Scarlett is such a happy bunny and wakes up full of beans, I think is puzzled by my lack of enthusiasm at 7.00amona Sunday !

Tegan Sat 29-Mar-14 19:39:46

I don't wake up exactly grumpy but I don't want to talk to anyone or have a television or radio on for a while. What I have found since I retired is that I slouch around and don't do much when I feel I should leap out of bed and go for a walk or go to the gym. In fact the only thing that kick starts me into action is making a cup of tea and then putting the pooter on; bit concerned that the pooter is taking over my life somewhat confused.

I just asked her!

janerowena Sat 29-Mar-14 19:35:42

My mother is 78 and she says she still gets it!

Soutra Sat 29-Mar-14 18:49:41

Interesting thought, janerowena I know that if I had been 20 years (25?) younger, I would have put it down to PMT and DH might have felt safe to come out from behind the sofa!!

janerowena Sat 29-Mar-14 18:16:29

I used to wake up like that once a month. It was like a monthly alarm clock to warn me that my period would start the next day. I told my mother, and she said that even though hers had finished by then, she still woke up at the same time, once a month, feeling low for about two days. Mine have just ended a couple of years ago, and the same thing is happening to me. I suppose it's the remnants of any hormones I have left.

I'm not saying that yours is caused by the same thing, but maybe if you make a note of the days on which it happens, you would find a pattern?

kittylester Sat 29-Mar-14 15:24:58

Maybe it's the moon or somethingshock. I'm generally quite upbeat so don't know why I have days of feeling really evil!!

Bet you are feeling better soutra - have a lovely time. sunshine

rosesarered Sat 29-Mar-14 14:41:02

This is a bit strange, because I feel very grumpy today as well!No reason at all for it, and slept very well last night. Nice sunny day too. DH is gardening and stuck his head around door and asked for cup of tea to which I said ' NO!' I'm not all that busy either, so it was a bit mean really.
Haven't felt completely well all week though, [DH had a bit of man flu] and now I have slight sore throat, and feel tired.Oh well, we all have our off days don't we? Soutra flowers brew cupcake

kittylester Sat 29-Mar-14 13:32:17

I know you feel down sometimes Galen but your posts usually lift me because you don't take yourself too seriously! flowers

In fact, most of us don't take ourselves too seriously, which I love!

I am still feeling a bit down so the weeds are going to get it!! grin

Galen Sat 29-Mar-14 13:06:21

I am NOT a morning person

storynanny Sat 29-Mar-14 12:32:10

I also woke up feeling happy because I am not on supply teaching this week until Friday morning and I won't be answering my phone for any last minute bookings! So I feel like I am on Easter holiday already. I won't think too much about the fact that it also means I will not be earning anything for 3 weeks!

storynanny Sat 29-Mar-14 12:29:34

It is only a strip of shingle coastline facing the IOW, not touristy at all and no sand. But I feel lucky to live 5 minutes away and try to go every day. I think the sea air uplifts spirits even in Winter.
If I were rich I would buy a beach hut here and almost live in it.

rosequartz Sat 29-Mar-14 12:17:39

That sounds lovely, storynanny! However, the nearest beach is too far from here and the cleaning has to be done. I will be with you in spirit.

storynanny Sat 29-Mar-14 12:10:15

And I know I am lucky to be able to do that with a partner, but when I have been on my own I still find it uplifting as I always manage to find someone to talk to.

storynanny Sat 29-Mar-14 12:09:10

Yes that happens to me sometimes and cleaning would make me feel worse! I never do things I hate when I am a bit down. Retail therapy usually does the trick for me. Even if it is just a new lipstick.
On the other hand does anyone wake up sometimes feeling really really happy and cheerful? Maybe we are all a bit bi polar.
I woke up feeling really happy this morning and was in the mood for cleaning the bathroom. It is sunny out and we are just off to the beach for a cup of tea and read the papers sitting outside of the cafe. Little pleasures but uplifting.

rosequartz Sat 29-Mar-14 11:40:24

I am feeling grumpy today, and should throw myself into cleaning but the thought is making me feel even more grumpy.
Hey ho, off we go with a duster and vacuum cleaner

harrigran Sat 29-Mar-14 11:05:50

Modest moi ?
