If you're Irish (& even if you aren't).....

Well married to an Irishman who doesn't celebrate St Patricks day. Last year we were on a cruise on this date and the ship had a German themed day on.!

I often wonder if citizens of the Republic of Ireland are not embarrassed by the American shenanigans on Paddy's day...

Thank you Baubles, I'm a quarter Irish so feel a bit entitled to enjoy today! Although I hate Guinness, I love potatoes!!

I am half Irish, as were both my parents. My mother was taught all the Fenian songs at her Irish grandmother's knee. A fact she was always a bit embarrassed about given that she married an army officer.

My Irish maternal Grandparents were first cousins so I'm not sure if that makes me a quarter or a half Irish!

My Dad had two generations on his mothers side born in Belfast. They moved to Liverpool in the late 1880s. Everyone else is staunchly English. for generations.

My parents were both Irish so I suppose I am Irish through and through although born in England. I love my Irishness Feetle - my cousin in Ireland said she couldn't stand American tourists. She used to say they all come over here thinking we are still wearing shawls and are very patronising.

My only link to Ireland is that my grand-daughter has an Irish boyfriend.
And he is absolutely lovely with a soft lilting accent.

I have Courtney's in my ancestry who I think came from Ireland, but then I also have welsh. My late husband was born in Ardrossan in Scotland. I'm black country born and bred with the accent to prove it!
