To Do List

I often write a list of things I should do and feel relieved when I have done it.

The odd thing is I then rarely look at the list, but feel oddly satisfied that the job is safely written up in case I have a burst of energy.

I usually feel more organised when I have a list, I have found that I can get easily overwhelmed and a bit panicky, but making a list seems to help.

However, I am guilty of something really daft. I sometimes put things on the list that I have already done, purely for the feeling of satisfaction that I get from crossing them off blush

I am not happy unless I have a list, I compile lists for nearly everything not just shopping or chores. I currently have a list of books that I need to order from the library. A list of places I would like to visit also a list of programmes that I intend to sky plus.I also started to list all my expenditure for each day but that just became too painful. I also list my weight every day together with what I have eaten.

I have a mega collection of really lovely notebooks that I have just waiting........until I fill them with lists.

[Hmm]I think I may need help

I make lists too. Don't always stick to them but it helps to clear my mind of all the things whirling around in there.

Oddly, about thirty five years ago, when clearing out an elderly relative's house, I found little notes dotted about such as 'wind up clock' and 'shut windows'. Thought it was funny and quaint but now I find myself doing something very similar! Lol! Comes to us all I guess...

mollie thankfully it has not come to me yet!

I never make a list and the day that I do I will be expecting the men in white coats to take me to a peaceful place to stay.

chloe why do you weigh yourself everyday and list what you have eaten?

I could say its an obsession and it is.Whilst working I averaged between a size 22 /24 and had tried all diets food plans etc. I then retired (before I was ready.) So almost the only thing I had to occupy myself at that time was yet another diet and it worked. I am now between a size 10/12 and am terrified that the weight will go back on. I am a very controlled person and only feel, comfortable when all my lists are made , drawers tidy, dusting done and surfaces gleaming. Sad but true. Have to say I now have lots more things going on in my retired life and am happy and content but still cannot get out of the habit of weighing myself everyday and yes I can tell you what I had to eat last Monday week ( but no one ever asks)

I make lists but they are usually too long so I don't get everything done and instead of congratulating myself on the things I did get done I beat myself up for failing to do them all!

The next days list is then added on so the list just gets longer and longer, sometimes I feel like I am drowning under all the things that I haven't managed to get done. The funny thing is, they are never anything vitally important - things like shredding old documents and sorting things for the charity shop.
