Soop's in her kitchen, all's right with the world.

ffinnochio Tue 06-May-14 18:30:45

Hello fellow soop's kitcheners. Love that description Bella smile

I visit most days, to catch up with all your news (but not much of a chatterer ), so this evening I've bought in a jug of lemon balm to plonk on the kitchen table. Good for tea, in cooking or just to squash and smell. Balm for you all. flowers

rosequartz Tue 06-May-14 20:04:57

Hello everyone, the door was open so I managed to get in this evening!

Soop, when you have finished your ANTIbiotics perhaps you will need a course of PRObiotics to balance the bacteria in your gut (horrible word!). DD1 swears by them.

Hope you are feeling less zombie-like, Bellasnana, you will not be able to cope if you are feeling like that. Perhaps half the dose or something at bedtime to help you sleep instead.

Has Tara been eating grass? Sometimes cats do that in the spring to cleanse their systems I understand.
Charleygirl, I do hope the procedure goes well tomorrow and the solution is a simple one.

Took DGD2 (age 2) out for lunch today, when I asked her what she would like she said emphatically 'CAKE'. She is learning fast, that girl. Needless to say, she did not have cake. What a mean grandmother I am.

Best wishes to all, I am just going to snooze for a while in the corner. It has been a busy day.

Bellasnana Tue 06-May-14 20:39:12

Delighted you managed to gain entry to the kitchen rosequartz. I wonder what the problem was?

Loved your little DGD asking for cake! Bless her - a girl after my own heart smile

Snooze away, I shall join you having taken half a tablet. Don't intend taking any tomorrow though.

Sweet dreams all moon

soop Wed 07-May-14 11:00:33

Good morning to all my dear kitcheners grin

Such a lot of news to catch up with. I shall read through every post at lunchtime.

bags blueberry and rhubarb wotsits sound too yummy for words. Do they keep in the fridge? Naughty, pushy hint. wink

rosequartz smile your wee granddaughter is a girl after my own heart. I rarely eat cake, but if I could, without piling on the pounds, I surely would.

Bella I hope that the half tablet enabled you to sleep well. It's horrid feeling 'spaced-out'. I take six different medications every day. I'm unsure but I think that Simvastatin is the one that makes me feel woolly-headed. Anyway, you take very good care of yourself. You are precious.

Charleygirl Cats seem to have phases when they are sick for no apparent reason. Rory hasn't had an episode for some time. Mind you, he still spins like a whirling dervish. We are used to such sessions. He becomes calm when either I or MacSporran place a hand firmly on the top of his head. ..after which, the back continues to twitch, the tail likewise and ultimately he makes himself comfy on the chaise and snoozes.

I have to go right this minute, but I shall return at lunchtime.

kittylester Wed 07-May-14 11:43:50

Hi everyone, can I just sit down for a minute. DD3 has her first CBT today and I got a panic message from DD2 saying she was thinking of not going [panic emoticon from both of us] so I've been positive about the benefits in a very understated way! She has gone so I'm hoping she's gone to the meeting

A little rest on the chaise with a soothing cuppa would be lovely before the children get up from their naps!

Hope you are feeling better soop and anyone else (and any cats!!) who are under the weather. flowers

annodomini Wed 07-May-14 12:30:13

Rosequartz, my oldest GS's first word (after mum and dad) was 'cake'. Now 9, he hasn't changed much!
It started spitting as soon as I left the house this morning and is now very gloomy. A quick foray to M&S yielded a pair of trousers and two bras. The last of the big spenders?

Bellasnana Wed 07-May-14 14:15:58

I'm just flopping for a while if you don't mind. What a morning. Hospital appointment at 9.30am. Saw the doctor at 12.00 noon. Nothing new except confirmation from the biopsy that it is indeed the big 'c'. He then had to have blood taken for his procedure on Friday.

We went for a coffee and then went shopping in Lidl. Not my favourite place, but the four-legged family members seem quite partial to the dog and cat food on offer, so we have stocked up for them smile

DH has just brought me abrew if anyone would like one. We have lots of chocolates, cakes and biccies still left over from Easter so please help yourselves.

Hope your DD made it to her appointment kitty and that it will be of benefit to her. We never stop worrying do we.

((((Hugs)))) and flowers to all soop's kitcheners

soop Wed 07-May-14 17:06:53

Bella I'm spitting tacks! I was part way through a long message to you when without as much as a by your leave, I lost the connection. That was an awful long wait for an early hospital appointment. Thank goodness that your dear husband sought help as soon as he did. You will both be in my thoughts when he returns for Friday's procedure. Wish that I could gently hug you. flowers

kitty I'm also hoping that your daughter takes your advice and attends the appointment. I shall look forward to hearing more when I return tomorrow [afternoon] as I have pal's ironing to attend to in the morning.

anno I'm slightly envious that you have an M&S not too far away. It would take me three and a half hours to travel to the nearest store. So, a pair of trousers and two bras. Did you have a fitting for the bras? I can vaguely recall standing in a very long queue for the changing room. A lady then measured my bits. The bra was indeed a good fit. I'm a 34FF shock horror!

I must leave you yet again. So sorry. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon will be a fitting time for me to catch up with all my Granspals. MacSporran has gone into Campbeltown on the bus. The car needed attention, so it's been in the garage. He should be home very soon. Rory is sitting in the window. He doesn't settle until his lovely MacS is where he belongs. Bless!

moon xxx

annodomini Wed 07-May-14 17:47:11

Must plead guilty to not having myself measured for a bra - just got the same size as before. I hate changing rooms!

Agus Wed 07-May-14 19:31:04

Hospital this morning and at last I got the good news that, for a further 4 weeks, I only have to wear the brace at my discretion. So nice to,sit in a chair comfortably again.

Still not allowed to drive but DH is dropping me off at DD1's tomorrow for lunch plus I will see her new flat she moved into last month. It will be lovely to get out of the house at last too.

kittylester Wed 07-May-14 19:36:45

DD3 did go to her appointment but the next is not until 3rd June - is that cut backs or because she is not that bad in the great scheme of things?

DD1 asked if I'd like to go out for lunch in a couple of weeks (we have to book in advance as she only has 1.5 days off per week) I said YES!!

Good news Agus ... and relax! wine

Take care of yourself and Dh Bella winewine

Anno, new bras are a bit of a pain until they are worn in, aren't they? grin

Lona Wed 07-May-14 19:43:27

Agus Good news, you must be so much more comfortable sunshine

annsixty Wed 07-May-14 19:51:36

Just as a little aside (and I think this may take in another thread but apologies) I think the call on any services affecting very loosely MH are so overstretched. My DH is recently diagnosed with Alzheimers and the service we are getting is dreadful. Hope it really is that your DD is not too bad kitty and not that she is having to wait.

annodomini Wed 07-May-14 20:18:27

Good news, Agus. You must be feeling liberated.
Kitty, I always try to remember to put new bras through the wash before I wear them - softens them up a bit!

soop Thu 08-May-14 14:26:04

Agus I'm pleased for you. For all I know, you may be with your daughter right this minute. How far apart are you? Enjoy your day. It will be like a tonic after being house-bound for so long. smile

kitty Thanks to your gentle persuasion, your daughter kept her appointment. Well done. Lunch with DD1 is something to look forward to. Are you going somewhere special?

Hello, annsixty. I'm sorry that your husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and that you are far from happy with the service provided. Over the past weeks, we've heard of similar experiences. Not only is it a bad time for the patient, but a sad time for the nearest and dearest. Do you have family living close by?

I've been ironing and cleaning yet more brass all morning. Now feel utterly cream-crackered. wink I hope that you'll all forgive me if I take to the chaise and share some leisure time with a sleepy cat.

POGS Thu 08-May-14 15:44:37

Soop

Or indeed take to the chaise with Mr Soop peeling you a grape. wink

As for cleaning brass it was my mother's joy. I have never forgiven myself for 'passing it on' to a charity shop. I can't stand cleaning it but I do like to look at.

POGS Thu 08-May-14 15:46:11

Soop

By the way, how do you iron brass grin

soop Fri 09-May-14 14:17:58

POGS Very droll...wink Thanks for peeling the grapes for me. Most thoughtful.

The brass doesn't belong to me. I hate the stuff. My own mother had a thing for both brass and copper. She'd trawl antique shops in the Cotswolds looking for interesting additions to her collection. The minute I unscrew the tin of Brasso...memories come flooding back.

It's been a Campbeltown trip to Tesco. Treated ourselves to latte and shortbread in the Royal. En route, we saw drifts of bluebells covering the slopes. Along the verges the gorse is glorious. Lambs gambolling in the fields. A serene sea. Sunlit mountains of the inner Hebrides. Magic!

Ever since I awoke this morning, I've had thoughts of Bella and her dear husband in mind. flowers

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 09-May-14 14:23:48

- shortbread - envy

Oh, and the bluebells and gorse of course! (she adds hurriedly) smile

Bellasnana Fri 09-May-14 14:31:29

A hurried note as my phone battery is dying. Been at hospital since 8am. DH went to surgery at noon. Got back to ward 2ish. He's still sleeping and so far no information as to what they found in the laparoscopy.Thank you for your kind thoughts soop and everyone else who has sent good wishes. Take care, all. Will be back to tomorrow. flowers to you all and some Gozo sunshine

Nonu Fri 09-May-14 14:36:02

flowers & (((hugs)))

BELLA

POGS Fri 09-May-14 16:40:59

Bellasnana

Thinking of you both. flowers

Agus Fri 09-May-14 18:10:30

Bella (((((((hugs)))))) you must be exhausted.

Agus Fri 09-May-14 18:35:33

It was wonderful to get out again Soop. DD is only 15mins at the most by car. DH dropped me off and we had a lovely Mum and daughter day all to,ourselves. She loves her new flat and most of,the time was spent discussing decor ideas and of course her DD's whom I could talk about forever anyway. smile

I remember cleaning my Mum's brass companion set and coal box with a bottle of brasso.

I did the same as you POGS re the charity shop. blush

Kitty, Lona and Anno it has made a huge difference being able to take the brace off and have a comfy seat thanks.

Something nice to look forward to Kitty, lunch with your DD. Enjoy. Hope DD3 begins to,feel the benefit of CBT soon. I know a few people who found it worked very well.

DebnCreme Fri 09-May-14 18:37:44

(((hugs))) flowers and caring thoughts for Bellasnana kittylester and all those who are coping with problems right now.

Brought in some bread from my breadmaker which should be ready for toast tomorrow. Hot buttered toast, yummy.
