Just heard that DS1 has inherited the OG's Haemachromatosis ( most common genetically inherited disease in N. Europe apparently). DS2 is clear, so bad news tempered by good.
The OG manages the treatment very well (venesection) as a retiree but DS1 will have to fit it around work.
Thankful that the condition is manageable tho!

Welcome back soop and what a wonderful welcome you received from Rory. It is always a shame that we can't fully explain to our animals that we are coming back. They understand much but just not quite enough.

OGM I've not heard of Haemachromatosis. I gather that it is a condition of the blood. I shall look it up so that I can understand what it is. Special ((hugs))

Hello to all my dear Granspals. I missed you too. Funny thing is, although we started our day at 6am [when with Torben] I was forever trying to catch up. I cannot recall finishing a single cup of tea or coffee. On one occasion I forgot to comb my hair and didn't clean my teeth 'til lunchtime. I bet you all know the feeling of being on a roundabout that you cannot get off until after said grandchild's bath time.

Rory is well happy. It's a perfect day in bonnie Kintyre. Much as the weather was in Sussex. Am about to upload a favourite photo of Torben with a very messy face.

Soop's I have just looked at the wonderful photos on your profile. You and your youngest grandson are laughing together in every photo, just wonderful.

Hope your awful accident is all cleared up, you had such a bruised face.

A happy Easter Saturday to all my Granspals. We're enjoying delightful weather in bonnie Kintyre. Do hope that whatever your plans, you enjoy yourselves.

NanKate Oh, the face! Yuk! The fall happened early last August. I was taking photos on the beach opposite our home. As I started on my way back, I tripped and fell face down on a concrete slab. I was trying to protect MacSporran's camera during the topple. I clutched it and forgot to break my fall. I sat back on the slab and watched non-existent marathon runners sprint past me.

anno Torben is enormous fun. I picked up a piece of flint during our wanderings. I asked him would he like to take it home to Mummy. He bent down and struck the flint against a rock. He then said...as it's real, it could be useful.

OGM I googled Haemachromatosis. What a strange disorder. I imagine that the symptoms are numerous and complex. How old is your son? Please keep us updated. I hope that his treatment makes a positive and manageable difference. for you. x

OGM as you say it's manageable! rather have it than something like diabetes any day.

Just popping in to leave a basket full of choc eggs. Hot cross buns warming the virtual Aga. A few bottles of fizzy wine in the cooler. Freshly picked spring flowers on the kitchen table. Please help yourselves. I'm off to sit in the garden, in the sunshine. I've a stinking cough/cold...courtesy of Torben. Need some fresh air and some rest and relaxation.

soop you will certainly remember Torben, thanking him daily for the cold. I am so glad that I do not like hot cross buns or fizzy wine. I am more than happy with a mug of coffee.

Having had builders, plumbers, an electrician, 2 aerial men and 3 children here at times during the week, Tara's rest has been severely disturbed so she has been catching up on some serious shut eye. I think that she is now feeling more refreshed and rested. Definitely okay for some. I plan to do it tomorrow morning, luxuriating in a long lie. The Scots will understand what that is!

I am shivering here. It is pleasant when the sun is out but perishing indoors.

A very happy Sunday to all my Granspals. Once again the sun is shining. There is a cool north easterly breeze blowing off the sea. I didn't take my usual early morning stroll through the village. Frankly, I feel awful...not only a thick, chesty cough but a runny tummy too. At Torben's party there were four other young children. The youngest appeared to have a bit of a fever. Just one of those inevitable downsides of travelling from a remote spot to the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Did I tell you about the Champagne tea; a gift from the family? The venue was magnificent. The tiny pastries and a round of sandwiches were tasty. The fizzy wine was acceptable. The finishing touches were very second rate. We had just one tea plate to use for both savoury and sweet items. One knife and a tea spoon and a very poor quality, green paper, kitchen-like towel. I won't be telling the family. It wouldn't be fair. We also learned [on returning home] that the management had been fined some time ago, for using the casino as an all-night drinking venue and, much worse, customers had been watched whilst using the lavatory.

Oh dear soop , not to worry you, but maybe you should have your doctor check you out. A nasty, chesty cough may need antibiotics to prevent it becoming worse. After your recent hospital stay you need to be cautious.

Sorry the champagne tea didn't amount to much, although I bet the price of it did
