Perhaps they could use this idea in supermarkets at Christmas. Customers could pay to have the music stopped for the duration of their visit and I am sure the staff, who have to suffer it day and daily, poor souls, would club together to buy some piece and quiet.

I was once in a shop in Wolverhampton where they were playing a schmaltzy american number called "its baby's first christmas" . I would have given them a fiver to stop.
