Just heard on the radio she has accepted that very lucrative offer to go over to ITV' s Daybreak. The boys will never be short anything.

I feel sorry for a lot of children in this world.

She meant the thread to be a compassionate one. I should really have kept my opinion to myself [because I do feel so sorry for the children]. I think we all agree that what's happened is very sad for everyone concerned.

Perhaps this thread could be closed now. I wouldn't want my daughter's problems aired in public, even if she were a 'celeb' who lived in the public domain. If not for Susannah or her mother, at least for her childrens' sake?

Sorry to contradict you, anno, but I did NOT pm grandmaminey prior to receiving a pm from her, not that it matters a jot. My remark about us all receiving pms was made in jest, hence the emoticon.

I am now very sorry I started this thread, which I did without thinking anything other than to offer an explanation as to why Grandmaminey might have withdrawn from Gransnet. My heart goes out to a fellow Granny whose obvious pride [in the best sense] and joy in her family must now be in tatters.

Perhaps GM is just too busy picking up the pieces, caring for her DGC, etc etc to post......this (situation) may have been going on for some time!

I am very sorry for Susanna's children, as I would be for any children in the same position. I did feel that the Strictly thread became a bit one dimensional and I certainly didn't feel I was able to express myself honestly - apart from 'liking' Big Ben!! In other years there had been a fair bit of lighthearted banter which was missing in the last series.

Can I just say that I made the comments because I felt that I'd been very naive at the time and suddenly felt a bit silly. In no way would I ever gloat over the breakdown of a relationship [been there; know what it's like]. But I had been unfair to Jingle at the time and wanted to set the record straight. I feel that I can comment on it purely because Gransnet were involved at the time and needed to say what my personal feelings were [something I'd been feeling for a while but under different circumstances would have just kept to myself].

I watched, and voted for, Strictly. I did not receive any PMs from GrandmaMiney, nor would I have expected to. I did not feel manipulated. I am adult enough to make up my own mind about who, if anyone, should get my vote.

I do feel sad for Susanna's children, but feel that her personal relationships, though played out in public, are actually none of my business. The only aspect of her life, and the lives of other celebrities, that should be of interest to us are those aspects where they are carrying out their jobs. Their private and personal lives should remain just that, private and personal.

Who is Susanna Reid? What does she do? and is Grandmaminey a minny, miley or a miney? not that it matters really it was a bit like Chinese Whispers on the first page I hope that all is well with her grandchildren though!

Nobody forced Susanna Reid to go on Strictly which happened to be a BBC production for which we pay.

I did not notice any posts from Susannah Reid's mum on here so cannot comment. If i am honest i am not sure what Susannah Reid does as i do nt watch much TV. However it sounds to me as if some posters are almost pleased that a relationship has broken up. A mum posted on here highlighting her daughters TV appearance and asking for GNers to think about voting for her. Some now feel they were being manipulated!

It is sad and painful when a relationship fails . It is made more painful when carried out in the public arena. I think it must be even more painful when all and sundry think they can comment too!
