..anyone else awake??

BBbevan I hope that you can find some peace of mind over your DGD's problems. It is awful when we think they are at school and not mixing like they should. My DS was looking at accommodation for university and wanted a self contained flat, with bathroom and kitchen. I was worried that he wouldn't socialise as he has had problems in the past. After working out how much he would save by sharing facilities he has now decided to just go room only so he will have to mix. I just hope he gets on with his flatmates. They are a worry no matter what age.

I don't usually have problems sleeping, but sometimes wake after a few hours sleep to have a good worry. And tonight is one of those nights. DH woke me an hour ago, snoring,and has now gone into another bedroom.
Worrying tonight about DGD who is stil having friendship problems at school. Nothing I can do about it, but I just want her back to her happy self.

It's a good enough excuse to indulge, if you ask me. I don't drink normally but could have done today with a small lager, sharp and refreshing. I sometimes get the small German lager bottles, about 2%, and when it's warm they are refreshing and I enjoy the odd bottle. Problem is, my DS likes them too and I am lucky to get my sticky paws on them!

I don't make it myself. When I first went to a pub, long ago, back in the last century in fact, I used to drink Merrydown wines..can't get them anymore but I've always loved 'country wines' and now have to send away for them, the good thing being that most sons, daughters, etc think they're not 'trendy' enough to drink and therefore leave them to me to consume. All the fruit in them must be beneficial health wise

Sounds good, I might get into brewing myself after my DS leaves home.

Possibly a few glasses of wine (It was Saturday after all) plus the fact I'm a night owl!!!

Sorry Harrigan just re read your posts and noticed that you live with your OH. You are right about being in bed though. Sometimes, if I am having a particular bad night, I camp out downstairs, tele on low, cup of tea and wait for sleep to come. I have a massage/heat pad and use it all the time so that goes on too. Blanket, little doggie at my side, comforts, you know, security. Do anything that means you will get some shut eye. I hope you are getting rest tonight.

Morethan I hope too, that your back isn't causing you pain tonight. A trapped nerve is awful and is shocking when it shoots pain. Thinking of you and hope you are resting up now.

For some unusual reason today I have been back to bed twice since being woke by the neighbours arguing this morning. I feel shattered but I bet I can't sleep now. Do some surfing and see how it goes. Anyone else still up?

After surviving the thunder storm this afternoon, I'm tired out and have just been for a wander down to the end of the garden to try and steel myself to go and have a sleep. It always feels like a challenge (sleeping) - a good book, a mug of cocoa, and determination, hopefully this is all that's required. I may be back later but in the meantime please GN'rs come and join the thread, there's usually someone out there pacing the floorboards...who needs to chat

Night night harrigran

I am going to bed shortly, an ice pack on my feet and a hot water bottle on my back. I am adding another two pillows so I can lie semi-propped up, that will be five pillows and should help with the coughing fits.
Nothing brave about me Nana3, you just do what you have to do. I want to see GC grow up, they are still very young.

morethan, I had an operation back in January for bowel cancer. I will be taking chemo until September.
I went back to bed at 7am but was up and down being sick so I stayed in bed until 4.30 this afternoon and managed two little naps. First time ever we Have asked the family not to visit tomorrow, I am wiped out.

morethan2, is there any possibility you may have shingles? The pain can present for some time before any spots (for want of a better word) are visible. You have been under incredible stress lately, so bear it in mind and if I am right, at the very first sign get anti-virals from your dr as they only work if taken at the outset. Hope I am wrong, though, you don't need that on top of everything else.

What a bunch of humorous, supportive threads I missed out on overnight I almost wish I hadn't slept, so I could have joined in. I woke up once for a small wee in the wee small hours and finally arose at 7.00am - bliss. I think it's going to thunder today - not so much bliss then after all

Where are you gowing tiredoldwoman somwhere nice I hope. That happens to me before a holiday, it's gotten worse since we missed our flight a few years ago. Got the cuppa and some yogurt. Hope your all feeling a bit better. It's going to be a nice sunny day they say.

I know what you mean about the pain more, I once trapped a nerve in my shoulder when I was going on holiday. I was in the car and just reaching the Hover port, obviously many moons ago, I reached on to the back seat to pick up a bag and yikes it felt as if I had been shot. Try heat pad or cold compress or even alternate them.
The chemo makes my feet so sore that it is difficult to walk, they look sunburnt and they peel, very attractive.

A cuppa would be lovely more, if I go downstairs DH will chase me back to bed. He is well meaning but bed is not always the best place to be.

There's an angry wasp in the kitchen,. I think I'll rip my clothes of an run screaming down our road. This is not a good start to my day
