Hi all night owls. Know I'm up for one of those nights as my foots playing up.

They played Dancing with my father on the radio. (The song we had at his funeral) I had just dropped off my little GS and was driving away when it came on. The tears fell. Last sunday was his birthday, tomorrow fathers day

Yes we were talking about what the next event excuse would be!
Someone at my keep fit class has an annual event with neighbour's. There's about 25 houses in their cul de sac. I asked folks if they were interested and there seems to be an interest so, who knows?
Glad yours went well-we just have to adapt to the weather here don't we?
Have just "given in" and slept on sofa for about an hour Not a good idea but I do fell better for it.
It's nice and sunny here in Staffordshire now so will go for a walk after eating.

Morning Newquay sorry you're still having disturbed nights. I've been awake very early a couple of times this week but have resisted the urge to come downstairs, though a cuppa is always calling me. Like you I plug one ear into the radio and listen to Brain of Britain, I have no idea who won as I've never managed to listen to a whole episode. ?
We had our street party on Saturday as that was what the majority wanted. Gazebos were erected on the green in front of our houses., and the trestle tables set up inside them. The weather held off while the food was being eaten, we even enjoyed
about half an hour of warm sunshine........then the heavens opened. Who knew that gazebos could leak so much.
The planned games for the children were abandoned but they ran around in the rain anyway, so not all bad.
Everything was packed away and all the men were in front of their own tellys by 8.00 for the England match. Every cloud and all that.
I expect the next one will be the Coronation......DH and I will probably be in a nursing home by then, the way that HM is going. ??

I know that feeling well, if you make the smallest move they think you're up for it.

Morethan, I have been sleeping longer since the hospital gave me the foot cream, it has stopped the skin peeling on the soles of my feet. I only have four days left on this cycle of chemo and then I have a week off.
I try not to get out of bed during the night because DH comes looking for me.

PS have had several restless nights so wake up more tired than when I went to bed I try not to go onto iPad or telly in the night so usually have world service on quietly-DH is v deaf without his hearing aids.
So will have to keep moving today or I'll be asleep in the day. . . .

Hello juliette sorry I haven't replied sooner about street party. Sometimes I can't remember where I've posted things. . . . .
Anyway a few neighbour's and I and DH put up bunting about 4pm but by 5pm it POURED! The road was like a river.
About 5.30 several,neighbour's appeared so we ended up about 20 of us in our garage. I'd hastily put garden table and chairs in there. It was great fun. A new neighbour is a fisherman so he brought his two big umbrellas too in the drive.

I'm looking up polymyalgia as we speak never heared of it NanKate but hope you start to feel better soon. Although it's lovely having family to stay I find it can interrupt my sleep. Don't know why think it over stimulates my brain

I'm awake too Morethan so just got a cuppa and a biscuit and my trusty IPad to keep me company. Also a warm hot water bottle for my cold feet. I know in an hour or so I will regret getting up so early, but the alternative was to lie in bed thinking.

I have my niece and great nephew staying till Monday. It has been nice catching up on all the family news but it will be good to get back to normal next week.

Their arrival has helped with my lethargy caused by having Polymyalgia which is a passing illness but has knocked me for six. The steroids are horrid but are keeping the aches and pains at bay.

Rubylady how sensible to organise to speak to someone about your dad. He obviously meant a great deal to you.

Wide awake and trying not to fret about it. Don't know why I'm awake, don't feel my mind spinning like a tape recorder. Perhaps there's no reason I just am awake. I expect you are feeling really down rubylady it's very early days since you lost your dad, and Father's Day was never going to be easy. I hope you do find somone to talk to about your dad. It's important to just get it all out, talking helps. I think it helps you to come to terms with it in your head. The death of somone you love is very hard. I think part of our brain tries to protect us from the awful realisation and the other part tries to make sense of the finality of it and so there's a conflict going round and round in our head. Then of course it takes time to heal a broken heart. I really hope you find talking helps. Grief is a horrible path to walk, it's a personal journey but there is light at the end of it, so one step at a time. Everyone's pace is different. So give yourself time and don't expect too much of yourself. This is real life and it's hard. Think I'll make tea. harrigran are you sleeping better? How's your feet? The thing about this thread is that it's easy to loose what's going on because if like me your sleep is erratic and you have relatively good nights then the occasional bad one then things have moved on.

Looking up to either phone someone or go and talk to someone over my dad. I need to come to terms with it all but I know that I haven't.

Up again, tried to sleep but got the itchy thing going on and a shaking episode again. Totally shattered. Going back to doctors soon so tell him about all this and see what he says. It might be to do with my dad, watching the football without him, Father's Day this weekend, not good. Tried Ovaltine and Kalms, see how they go. I hope you are all tucked up in bed.

harrigran I hope you managed to get your afternoon sleep today. I got about an hour today but it's something and I will try soon again. Watching Pointless now to relax.

Jud yes, it could be the menopause coming up. I am 52 this year so anytime now. I started bleeding last night and was dreading what would happen but it's been like spotting up to now. Maybe this is the end of it all, hopefully. Good, I can get back to that sex thing if it is.

Maybe not, give me a good cup of tea . . .

Ruby we are both feeling much better now, thanks for the thoughts. DH still a bit wobbly yesterday but spent some time resting in bed and in good spirits today. Has gone out birdwatching with a friend which should cheer him up. I might get him to contact GP as you suggested, but he isn't keen on making an issue of it.

Your heavy period sounds like you might be coming up to the menopause. It happened to me for the last 6 months before everything stopped. Would that be possible?

I do appreciate people's kind feedback on here. It is like a warm caring hug. Things have quietened down for the moment but I know the problems are still simmering. Just this weekend everything kicked off at once! Moving on......

A member (Kitchener?) wrote about a similar incident the same day that I read this article about post prandial syncope which can happen in people of a certain age where the blood pressure plummets. There is not necessarily a sinister underlying problem.

I have been awake since four, very bad back pain. Missed my afternoon nap yesterday because I had to go for blood test and like you Ruby I think I got overtired. I hope you can catch up with your sleep during the morning.

Hi Jud how are things today? Is your husband regaining his strength? As for the magic wand, I think I will go into business making some and then I can sprinkle magic dust on them, give them to GNers who need them and we can make all our problems disappear. Wouldn't that be lovely?

Bad day ish today. I saw a coach load of young children coming back from a trip and I got a lump in my throat thinking of my GC I am missing out on which my ED wont let me see. Dentist appointment, given antibiotics to get infection down in a tooth before it is pulled out. Didn't have my nap and now can't sleep, which you would think is strange but I sleep better at night/early morning if I have not got overtired during the day. Now I am all twitchy and itchy and can't settle. Did try mobility scooter out for first time so very happy with that though. And met a lovely man who can become a good friend maybe in next few months. So maybe not such a bad day. I just want to sleep. I have been to bed and tried but it's not working. Plus due for another period and very worried it could end up being like last month with huge clots and lots of blood.

Jud If you don't know what happened properly with your husband in hospital, then make an appointment with your GP as he will be sent details and will explain it to you. It's worth following up if you are concerned it could happen again. Plus you could find out what the blood tests were for as they don't tell you in hospital, they didn't tell me until they said I was anaemic. I hope you are both feeling a bit better today.

Not an anxiety attack Alea. He is used to me being away and very self sufficient. In fact I think he enjoys being on his own. He had a lot of blood tests in hospital (don't know what for as he didn't have enough energy to ask) and an ecg so not heart related. No evidence of a urinary infection either. I was a bit worried about TIA or a blood clot but I assume those were ruled out.

DH is not a fusser or worried about his health usually. So I know what happened must have been serious enough for him to agree to being taken to hospital. DD said he couldn't stand and seemed to have lost consciousness for a while. He was also a bad colour. And blood pressure had dropped.

I am assuming the doctors who saw him checked for and ruled out a TIA or a UTI (urinary infection? ) The latter just seem to be so common especially among older (?) people -like us!
The other thing, which you might NOT welcome is that it was some sort of anxiety attack because you were away and he felt insecure. That's less easy to solve although better than something dreadful, but it can complicate life. An infection is the easiest to deal with!

Bless you Ruby. A night's sleep helps restore depleted strength, doesn't it? DH still a bit lethargic but improving. I think he is relieved to have me home. The worry is that we still don't know what caused the collapse.

The other stuff is not under my control but I seem to be picking up everyone's pieces. Wish I had a magic wand!!

Still every day can be a new start. I'm going to try to restore some order to the house and get a the dog out for a much needed run.

Thinking of you Jud I hope you are feeling a little better now that you are back home. This sort of thing happens, it all going wrong at once and it is hard to deal with at times. All that you can do is your best for the said situation at the time and then leave it until you can do some more when it is called for. Until then, shelve it and try to concentrate on yourself. I know it is hard, I've had a poo year myself, and am finding it difficult to deal with things at times. Trying to force myself to relax doesn't really work. Only time will sort things out. But you do have us on here to lean on. I hope you are asleep now and things look a little better in the morning. X

Thanks very much Alea. I finally got a flight home this evening and feel better to see DH in person. He is still wobbly and a bit frightened by what happened but had been well looked after by DD, who has her own problems.

Hope sleep comes tonight. Was lulled to sleep by a blackbird at last this morning and managed about 2 hours before DGD popped into my bedroom with the happy news that it was morning time and she was hungry.

Honestly, it feels like my family is unravelling at the moment. I have been trying to hold things together but it is like spinning plates. As soon as one problem is eased another erupts. Several erupted together this weekend

This too shall pass.....I hope.

judthepud I have just read your post and send you what comfort I can. I am sure DD3 will cope extremely well and sincerely trust all will be well but I can feel and share your distress and frustration.
I can offer no trite consolation, but am so sorry you are in this position right now.
Hoping the morning brings you some peace of mind

Sometimes music helps me doze off, or a audio book, I going to try that now but am wide awake with husband snoring gently beside me, he never has this problem.
