BT Calling Centres

I know michael it's so annoying. Indian call centre keep calling me and asking me how I feel after my accident. I haven't had an accident. I tell them that but they don't seem to understand me. Why would they think i'v had an accident. My husband plays them along keeping them talking for ages then when they ask when he had the accident. He says "oh I can't remember. The accident must have caused amnesia. You rang me you must have the details. You tell me" good luck fitting the box.

Bloomin' annoying for you Mick but glad you got your box eventually. Perhaps GNers should take on the demand for UK Call Centres as 'a cause'?

Why are Indian call centres being blamed for Parcel Force failing to deliver?

Parcel Force works well most of the time as do other delivery services but some drivers seem to have a strange approach to customer care and satisfaction.
I also have difficulty being understood and understanding call centres when there are strong accents. However when I did use Microsoft Windows a call centre based in India did spend a long time with me going through a problem step by step until it was solved.
On the whole however I prefer UK based assistance.
We got so fed up with the "We understand you have had an accident" calls as well as many others we have installed a Call blocker. We now live in peace, adding new numbers if a new cold call comes in.

Oddly enough I was going start a thread about a positive experience with a BT call centre in India. I have BT Infinity. Lately my speed seems to be slower than usual and the wireless link kept dropping.

When it happened again yesterday I called BT. Yes, I had to ask Karthid to repeat a few things, but he was extremely knowledgable and very patient. He talked me through a complicated procedure, using codes on my hub , to change the channel my wireless was using.

After the awful customer service I relieved from PlusNet's UK based 'customer service' (also owned by BT) this was a refreshing change.

Result everything much improved - a very impressed customer

DH had to call BT again this week re ongoing problem. I realised at one point he was having a chat to someone at the call centre in India about cricket! He knows absolutely nothing about cricket but the outcome of all this is someone is actually coming out to the house to investigate the problem. Almost unheard of nowadays. An actual human being arriving as opposed to many phone calls which were getting us nowhere.

If roles were reversed I very much doubt people in India would be treated with the same good manners and patience from workers here as we are by the call centres staff in India

I don't think its anything to do with India just easy to blame I ve had difficult calls with Glaswegian or Manchurian accents and nothing against any places but all people working in call centres should have a bland accent don't thing any strong ones should be employed

I ve had some beautifully spoken overseas calls and some nightmare ones too

The big thing for me about BT is that the calls are FREE.
But yes - though the last one I made was very helpful - bring back UK based call centres.

Just what is a bland accent though Bluebell? If we rule out north of England , South of England, Scotland and Wales, London, Essex , not many left

Any problems I've ever had with BT and they have been few have always been dealt with well by their call centre in India and the staff have so much patience when you are not as clued up as you should be, Bluebell as to bland accents in call centres what would happen to all the unemployed accented staff please ? would they all be disguarded

Surely it's not an accent being a problem if the speaker enunciates clearly at a measured pace. Too many have to get through your call because they have so many waiting.

Manchurian accent, BlueBelle? Is this an i-pad prediction?

It used to be said that the purest accent in the English language was that used in Inverness. They certainly speak there in a way which is very easy to understand.

Bland was probably the wrong word but just ordinary Queens English with no accent north south east or west
