This is now open for cakes and coffee and hot buttered toast. I am donating the new batch of marmalade. Enjoy.

Oldgreymare Wed 19-Feb-14 23:34:43

This must be the latest Happy Birthday wish Agus.... hope it was a good one smile and a bedtime toddy.
This year I shall be 69 so I'm planning a party which will be a 'Not My 70th' party, then I'm hoping to ignore the big one.

Agus Wed 19-Feb-14 21:38:29

Thank you Anno. So grateful for the glass of wine. To wash down the cake you understand. wink .Slainte

annodomini Wed 19-Feb-14 21:16:00

Agus Wed 19-Feb-14 20:54:51

Thank you Aka and number. More birthday cake! Oh well, if I must grin

numberplease Wed 19-Feb-14 17:24:17

Belated Happy Birthday Agus!
Soop, that description of Rory shaking his back legs after going through a puddle reminded me of our dear, departed Patch, she did that when going through snow! Looking disgusted as well.

Aka Wed 19-Feb-14 16:51:25

Happy Birthday from me too cupcake

Agus Wed 19-Feb-14 16:17:31

Many thanks for the birthday wishes. They seem to come every six months now grin

Great news OGM. wine for later. Slainte

Yes to diamonds every time Galen. They are never too young to learn what's important grin

Gally I have done some daft things regardless of having DH to give me a hand, I am too, independent for my own good so I'm told. Please be sensible and don't push yourself to,prove you can do it. Something we are guilty of.

Charley the children especially like what Skinny Malinky did when the picture started shock

Another curling fan. I was still in my goonie, having coffee watching this morning. C'est la vie.

soop Wed 19-Feb-14 16:06:45

Hoping to catch some of the ice skating. Have left a large plate of Florentines [I believe that's the correct spelling] sticky, chocolate covered round things with nuts and bits of dried fruit. Kettle has boiled. Big teapot ready with the best china cups and saucers. Help yourselves, please. Rory may be looking for a lap. He has wiped his muddy paws on the doormat and looks very smart.

I shall call by again tomorrow. Big hugs to my Granspals. smile

LizG Wed 19-Feb-14 14:01:39

Brilliant news OGM belated happy birthday Agus. Please take care Gally flowers

soop Wed 19-Feb-14 13:30:58

OGM I couldn't be more pleased for you. I may need to join you in a celebratory wine a little later. sunshine

Agus I'm also sorry to have missed your birthday. Belated wishes greetings. I'm pleased that you had a tip-top celebration. flowers

Gally PLEASE do not do yourself a mischief. Smile sweetly when the decorator arrives. Make sure he has a welcoming brew and mention that you need his assistance with shoving heavy items of furniture around. I used to love singing the song...'knick-knack-paddy-whacked give the dog a bone' when I was a child.

Thank you for all the lovely Scottish songs. Aren't they "colourful". I shall try to learn a few.

Soutra Confession time blush. We finished breakfast and realised that the GB curling team were playing in the semi-final. Both MacSporran and I left the dishes and watched the entire match. Oh...so near and yet so far by the tenth and final end. I felt so proud for the Scots. Maybe they can earn a silver medal.

Ice skating is on later. The sun is shining and we need to walk and stretch our legs. Rory has been sitting not too far from Tortoiseshell cat. MacSporran informs me that Rory has trotted off [a very short distance] into the wood. He [Rory] does not like traipsing through puddles of muddy water. You should see the way he shakes his back legs when his paws get wet. grin

Gally Wed 19-Feb-14 11:43:14

GM Great news flowers
Happy Birthday Agus flowers
Soop shock !!
The decorator is coming today to start on one of the bedrooms. I have cleared everything out, and there was a lot of everything! It took most of yesterday - apart from the bed and two very heavy wardrobes, he will have to either work round them or move them. I feel knick-knack paddy-whacked. I managed to remove a pine shelf unit and was feeling very proud of myself when I managed to knock a wall lamp and smash it. angry. It's times like this that I need J to 'hold the other end'. A cup of tea and something naughty would go down well right now.

AlieOxon Wed 19-Feb-14 11:24:06

I was passing....love the Scottish songs - my children started off growing up in Dundee.....was singing Coulter's Candy with my sister's boyfriend (born in Orkney) last year.....but I had forgotten the 'puckle o' banes' verse.

Greymare so glad you are clear....they will probably want me to do it again next appt....they didn't mention it last time so I didn't!

Oldgreymare Wed 19-Feb-14 11:15:47

Just popping in to share my good news:
Colonoscopy.... all clear!
So pleased as I wouldn't like to do that again in a hurry.
Not allowed wine at the mo' but will raise a glass later.
Love the rhymes.
Galen so pleased your DGD1 is taking an interest in diamonds after all, they are a girl's best friends!

Charleygirl Wed 19-Feb-14 10:17:50

All those forgotten rhymes remind me of my childhood. I had totally forgotten skinny malinky.

Galen Wed 19-Feb-14 10:05:53

I've remembered to put my 'pretty' ring on today as DGD1 was upset last time that I wasn't wearing it, it's diamond and sapphire and doesn't go with the pink top I'm wearing, but, anything to please her.

Galen Wed 19-Feb-14 10:03:25

PJs? I'm up and dressed and I've actually put some makeup on.
I'm going to see DGD ssmile

Soutra Wed 19-Feb-14 09:59:15

Ooh I'm still in my PJs ready for the curling. Come on Eve and the girls!!!! Just hoping the Curse of Soutra doesn't blight their gamehmm

Granny23 Wed 19-Feb-14 00:20:08

Times are awfy hard the noo
Yer faither's signin on the broo
but yer mammy'll get a penny for you
to buy some Coulters Candy

For some 'times' have not changed much. sad

Agus Wed 19-Feb-14 00:07:30

We decided not to sing the second verse for that reason.

We have been asked back in the spring to include the new intake so we will include yours Anno as part of our repertoire grin

LizG Tue 18-Feb-14 23:53:40

What wonderful accents. So relaxing to hear. smile

Soutra Tue 18-Feb-14 23:40:04

grin grin

annodomini Tue 18-Feb-14 23:31:41

Soutrato continue:
Puir wee bairn, ye're looking awfy thin
A puckle of banes covered ower wi'skin
Soon ye'll be gettin' a wee double chin
Frae sooking' Coulter's candy.

Soutra Tue 18-Feb-14 22:52:35

But of course:
"But ye can shove yer ither granny aff a bus
Oh ye can shove yer ither granny aff a bus
Ye can shove yer ither granny
For she's your Faither's Mammy
Ye can shove yer ither Granny aff a bus"

I always used to find this extremely unfair confused

Soutra Tue 18-Feb-14 22:50:28

Second childhood I fear!!grin

Agus Tue 18-Feb-14 22:26:17

Oh they loved that one Soutra. Just the thought of shovin' yer Granny aff a bus had them giggling. Also Skinny Malinky Long Legs etc.

Sounds like you are enjoying going down childhood memory lane grin
