Soop's Extended Extension.

Hello soop. I am just popping in to catch up with what is going on in your kitchen. Lovely to hear of the birds who visit your garden. When we are at home in Malta we rarely see any birds at all apart from sparrows, but here in SW Georgia, USA, DD2's garden ( or 'yard' as they call it!) has so many lovely birds visiting it is a joy to behold. I wish I knew what they are, though, as I have only recognised woodpecker, robin and some sort of huge birds of prey which swoop around very high.

Tomorrow we are going to Savannah and Charleston. This will not go down well with three year old DGD. She does not like road trips and did a fair bit of whingeing on the three hour trip from Orlando.

At present DD2's kitchen smells tantalizingly of chocolate cake. She has her own designer cake-making business so most days there are tempting aromas wafting through the house. Unfortunately her cakes are not like the ones in your kitchen in that they are not calorie-free!

It's much chillier today. Almost feel that snow is in the air. A heron has been standing motionless in our neighbour's garden. He/she usually sticks to the beach. A pair of yellow hammers came to feed yesterday. The first time we've had the pleasure of their company. Their bright plumage lit up the bird feeder.

Charleygirl Virtual planning permission has been given for a further extension to the kitchen. For as long as Granspals need a place to "chill out" or warm themselves with a and a blether...there will always be a safe haven.

As for the plumbing problem...sounds hopeful that it can be fixed soonish. Is your water from a spring? Ours travels a heck of a distance from way up on the hill.

soop time flies, we will or should I say that you will be extending again very soon. I do hope that we will not lose the view and Rory does like to rest his eyes in the sunshine.

soop it is a slightly different plumbing problem ie the shower head leaking badly so I think that he would charge another £50. The previous problem, no water, was sorted by him satisfactorily.

I have rung another plumber who has been here before and does not charge a call out fee. He knows the solution so we just have to agree a day that he comes next week. Luckily my water is not metered and sufficient has fallen out of the sky that I am not on a guilt trip for overuse.

Charleygirl I'm so sorry to hear of your on-going plumbing problems. If the last plumber hasn't done a good job, he needs to fix it. It's a disgrace that should be in this situation.

rosequartz It's good to have your company. I've been ironing for a friend for two and a half hours. I help out once a fortnight. The laundry basket is always full to the grim and beyond. The final fifteen minutes are frantic [for me] because I aim not to leave a single item un-ironed. Her new wee puppy insisted on climbing into the basket and rootling for all he was worth.

Time for a pot of coffee. I love the moment when I can come to the computer and say hello to my Granspals. So...hello

I am going to put my head in an electric oven I think because I need a plumber again. I now have a horrendous drip from the shower head. I will ring somebody who does not charge a call out fee. I think £50 a bit steep and I am certain he would charge me the same even although he has been here once already this week.

I had planned to do yet more ironing this afternoon. MacSporran returned from the loft with video taken when we first moved to Scotland. We sat on the couch...Rory on Mac' lap, and watched 90 mins of wonderful memories. By gum, I was fit way back when. Leaping over rocks and climbing mini mountains. We've had such fun going back in time. All very special.

There were spots of rain through the sunshine here. It was warm enough to take my jacket off and enjoy the sunshine when I was out earlier.

You may open your windows if you wish because I had a shower last night. The plumber arrived just before 9pm, I had almost given up. Here for 10 minutes, played with Tara, changed a rubber seal, £50. I missed my vocation I think but at least I now have flowing water again.

When I woke up this morning and went to the loo there was a seriously heavy drip coming from the shower head. I fiddled to no avail and decided to change the shower head, luckily having a spare. That has done the trick.

Then I went to pick up my prescription drug from the pharmacy to discover that the drug I have been on for 38 years is now discontinued. I raced to the surgery and explained the problem to the helpful receptionist so I should pick up a new prescription tomorrow pm.

My next trip was to a local photographers to get passport photos done. It is has closed and is now a disgusting fish shop so back to plan B, finding a booth.

By then I had had enough so home to have a cup of coffee and a welcome from Tara who has retired to bed.

I now need to do an on line shop for delivery early next week.

How did I have the time to fit in a full time job for over 40 years?

Galen their house backed on to Sutton park. Next door neighbour was never seen [no matter what the hour] without full makeup and fluffed-up hair. My mother seemed mesmerised by her ability to come to the door looking as if she'd just stepped out of the beauty parlour. My sister worked for the Teazy Weazy salon. Had that used be in Corporation Street? Such a long time ago...

We used to take day trips out to Sutton park Soop some really posh houses round there. Roman road! Wow! Suspect that's where hunter f lived.

I sort of know Litchfield. My late parents lived for a short time in Sutton Coldfield. Always used to think it was Sutton Coalfield.

It's a beautiful sunny day in bonnie Kintyre. We've been for our daily stroll and met a few villagers. Always nice to return to a cosy home. Cat curled up. Coffee about to be brewed. I'm very contented.
