Roses if its very cold how about a big bowl of scouse with beetroot on the side & some crusty bread will "warm your cockles" as they say !! I have a pan on the cooker as I type. yummy.smile
There is a nice comphy chair in the corner where you can sit ,not too far to fall if you have just one too many grin

rosesarered Thu 27-Feb-14 11:43:54

YUM! meat and potato pie..... that takes me back a bit [you don't get those down South.]Mushy peas! Even better. A large plateful please [it's a tad early for lunch but I'm hungry today.]I'm a bit off beer, what with falling off the bar stool, so I will have a large G&T with lemon but no ice [it's cold enough] and I will sit by the roaring fire in the corner there.Ah, an English pub, you can't beat it. smile

rosesarered we don't do potatoes and fresh veg sorry but we do a nice line in chips and mushy peas and I always make a fresh batch of meat & potato pies for match day (staple diet of the football supporters you know) & sausage rolls for quick snacks at your request.

Just had to pick rose off up the floor Pete, she was muttering about black sheep, I put her right and told her that the sheep down in old Percy's field are normally white but have got a bit mucky, what with the rain, mud and other stuff in the field, then she started on about old peculiar - think she might have been asking after you

Pete Wed 26-Feb-14 18:47:47

Rose plenty of black sheep in here....fresh garden veg might be tricky as they're under water ! Make yourself at home....mlne's a pint ta.

Anne58 Wed 26-Feb-14 15:30:42

If Pete has Jerusalem artichokes on the menu, I'd avoid them, just imagine the effect of those mixed with Old Peculier!

rosesarered Wed 26-Feb-14 14:42:32

Yes Phoenix know what you mean about squidgy noises! Think I shall move on to a pint of Black Sheep please landlord.I never eat pork scratchings Bohemian in fact I don't really know what they are?I never eat peanuts from the dish on the bar either, think how many grubby fingers have been rooting in there! Can't keep up with the racing chat, I know nothing about that subject either.Does Pete serve meals here?I will have chicken and leek pie with new potatoes and fresh garden veg please. And another pint. I can take as much virtual beer as you like [or as I like] without any risk of falling over.

Pete Wed 26-Feb-14 13:36:58

Tegan Tue 25-Feb-14 23:49:25

he's oirrish....

boheminan Tue 25-Feb-14 23:43:33

Bog Warrior???? what's that? some new brand of toilet roll?

Tegan Tue 25-Feb-14 23:36:25

I'm still not sure she'll go to Cheltenham; still reckon they're keeping her in reserve in case one of the other horses pulls out. I'm hoping that my favourite the Bog Warrior runs on the Tuesday when I'm there!

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 23:18:36

The Annie thing is exciting, isn't it? grin

Tegan Tue 25-Feb-14 23:16:43

They're both on course for Cheltenham although no one knows what Annie is going to do. I'm out of touch as well; so much for being retired and having lots of time to do all the things I want to do. Will know a lot more after next Thursday [our preview night].

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 23:11:40

Tegan that's not good news, is it?

I haven't been properly keeping up with racing stuff just lately, but anything to report on Annie Power & Hurricane Fly?

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 23:10:08

roses A pint of Old Peculiar makes Mr P make sort of "squidgy" noises blush

boheminan Tue 25-Feb-14 20:40:41

Good evening rosesarered The squidgy noise from the bar stool was probably Pete - I think you just sat on him, but don't worry, he's definitely an old peculiar sort of landlord. A few tips, as your new to this dump. Avoid the pork scratchings (the last lot I got were covered with bristles) don't drink any white wine served from a carafe and on no account talk while football's on telly. ps: the atmosphere you're absorbing is three parts distilled gin.
Pete I know the answer - what is the question?

rosesarered Tue 25-Feb-14 20:00:39

May I come in? [ Looks nervously around, and squidges onto a bar stool]
a pint of Old Peculiar landlord please! Slurp! Delicious, why haven't I found this bar before?because I was only told about it today, hadn't noticed it before now, but it's full of happy [slightly squiffy] people, great.I can't play darts very well though, I have only played twice, and one time I nearly had someone's eye out.Not sure I can play Ludo [or Lewdo] either, so I shall sit here quietly absorbing the atmosphere until closing time.

boheminan Tue 25-Feb-14 19:45:18

Make it 2 pints of sherry and you're on Petegrin
(Firstly, what was the questionhmm?

Nonu Tue 25-Feb-14 14:45:18

Tegan Tue 25-Feb-14 14:43:44

Nonu Tue 25-Feb-14 14:41:37

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 14:16:50

Not long 'til Cheltenham!

glammanana Tue 25-Feb-14 13:43:15

Pete you should know by now we will let anyone in for the price of a couple of free drinkies wink but once all the mud has been washed away from that bad rain we can reopen for business as usual,I hate my heels sinking in the boggy grass not good for the image you know grin
Well I passed on the LFC doggy coat and bought her a pink hoodie fleece so she can be all girlified like her mum blush have you seen her pic's since she went to the beauty parlour bit close to the wood but still georgious.
See my fav manager is top of the league at the moment wish he was at Liverpool but not to worry !! my littlest chap off to Melwood at week-end to see Liverpool schoolboys playing so he is excited, he's taking his kit just in case they are short of a player god love him.
