You know how you catch up on friends' news - often not always good- from the Christmas cards? Well done that, noted the illnesses, the RIPs in the last year and the divorces but now we seem to be undergoing a spate of bereavements. It's not a case of Great Aunt Maude's bronchitis/the flu/pneumonia during a cold snap, but we have lost 2 friends and a cousin in the last fortnight. It is all a bit of a "memento mori "as 2 were younger than us, 1 died of leukaemia, one possibly a heart attack although that is still unclear, but it was sudden and the third, DH's cousin, of lung cancer I remember one of my father's favourite phrases "He was no age" and find myself saying it too.
