Yankee Candles

I used to use candles a lot but now I tend to buy diffusers which I first came across in Australia. They last for ages and you don't have to remember to blow them out!

There is a wonderful candle and soap shop in Pitlochry where they are all hand made and I think, organic. The candles last for hours and smell fabulous. I have no connection with the shop, I just love it, but it is pricey, so beware.

Candles made with paraffin wax apparently emit some quite nasty chemicals which can cause headaches and othe problems. And that is before the heavy scents hit home!

I do quite like scented candles, but prefer a more delicate scent than Yankee candles provide - I find them very cloying.

I bought a Yankee candle t-shirt when I went to the store in Mass. The last and final time I wore it back home a elderly lady saw me and asked " are you a Yankee?"

My DD2 worked for Yankee Candle in Wisconsin for a while and used to buy them for me before we could get them here. Some of the scents are a bit overpowering, but I like the 'flowery' ones and I have some lovely 'seasonal' scented ones. I tend to use the 'tarts' rather than the candles though.

Oh yes! I'm "here" and I hope everyone has a peaceful feeling in their hearts at Christmas especially the grans that find themselves physically alone.X

Trying to be excited by Christmas! sometimes life gets in the way . my son was home for a week at Thanksgiving and will be home again on the 21st. Nonu you do get around!

GLam They are hidden . The only reason I discovered them was himself was having his eyes tested. So I had to go along and help pick his frames [because as you know it is hard to do on your own }.
Anyway they were so long-winded I went walk-about and discovered them.
Envious I have been there and just loved it so much . Wanted to buy everything in site . Only trouble couldn't buy all I wanted to because of weight . Only allowed 23KG. Last time we were there we got away by the skin of our teeth by juggling stuff around . Else they would have charged us $120 , Damm cheek.

John lewis vanilla pillar candles for me!

I don't like their rather harsh, artificial and well, cheap, smell and if you are walking past a display in e.g. a garden centre - it is overwhelming to say the least.
Neom organics do lovely subtle scents, White Company too, for Christmas their "Winter" is lovely and Diptyque Figuier is gorgeous - pricey but worth it for the lovely scent.

I couldn't justify buying a Dyptique Baies candle no matter how good the smell..Too much like burning money! I've enjoyed Yankee candles over the years.Ive even visited their large touristy store in Deerfield,Mass.and bought several discounted discontinued ones.Now I don't burn them too often after feeling sort of sick when in the overly fragrant stores and burning one in a hotel room I was staying in for 3 months.After all,there are chemicals in there.

I've just lit my Mayan chocolate and chilli (sounds good enough to eat) candle that I bought from The House of Chilli on the Isle of Wight a few months ago. It's lovely. I'm glad I also bought a couple for the DDs.

Too smelly by half for me. I find the mixture of very artificial perfume and parrafin wax not nice at all. Go for plain perfume oil evaporators.

My preference is Dyptique Baies. More expensive but the perfume lasts much longer.

I find Yankee candles quite sickly.

Thanks for that nonu will drop into Boots on Monday I wonder why I never noticed the offer yesterday when in Liverpool I can usually be certain to source out a good deal,agree about the lovely smell I have a Jo Malone candle in my lounge and have only used it once far to posh to light

You could, of course, make your very own cinnamon biscuits - to die for - and the house would be filled with that oh so delicious and tempting smell of 'real' cinnamon. You could even make ginger ones too.
