Hello. NanaKath3! Welcome.

My lifelong ambition was to get my PHD. I was half way through, at the age of 57, when I was diagnosed with cancer, and when I got back to it I thought "How do I want to spend my weekends?" (It was part time while I worked full time)

And all of a sudden, it didn't matter. I do have 45,000 words on school improvement if anyone wants it? smile

Sorry of that sounds a bit soppy!

I've always wanted a pierced nose..just a little stud....but never have because I wasn't sure how it would go down at work. I'm no longer on the greasy pole so a piercing is definitely on the cards! Can't wait!

Thanks for the Welcome BAnanas. Have a wonderful time sunshine

ninathenana you have a lovely time too for your 40th in Switzerland! Annoying thing about hitting 60, is that I will no longer be able to vaguely describe my age as 50 something. From December 12th, same birthday as Frank Sinatra, if he was still with us!, I shall now describe myself as barely 60, and I will continue in that mode for a good few years!

Welcome NanaKath3 and I do hope you enjoy your art course and happy birthday whenever it is.

New on Gransnet. Hello everyone.
Always wanted to be able to draw and paint, but too shy to share with others blush
Opportunity has come with local paper advertisement for classes for beginners. Phoned number to find out details, but was shocked at the price!
O/H says he wants to pay as a joint Birthday/Christmas present for me. It is 14 weeks long and appears to covers lots of different topics in art. Starts next week - wish me luck as I'm nervous before I start.

LizG - my daughter also has many tattoos, that I have never really liked but have never said as such as its her body....but have wondered how old wrinkly skin can show them off well! And she will probably grow old one day.

Congratulations BAnanas have a wonderful time.

I'm going to Switzerland in January for my 'new 40' grin

BAnanas Tue 12-Nov-13 16:08:56

Thank you Nfk and gracesmum, yeah 40 again why not? 60 is the new 40 or something like that!

I would love to be able to build a 'barley sugar twist' chimney stack. One problem would be that I suffer from vertigo, so it would not be on a roof! A garden planter maybe! The only brickwork I have ever done is a short 18 inch high wall, and it is not as easy as it looks.

Congratulations BAnanas - 40 (againgrin??)

Three whole weeks! Fantastic. Have a really wonderful time BAnanas

(I too have wanted to have a small tattoo, but couldn't decide what. I've settled on a dragon fly - but now can't summon up the courage.)

I have a lifelong ambition that I am soon to fulfill. In the first year at senior school, a long time ago now, we studied South America in geography and ever since I have always wanted to go there. I have a big birthday coming up next month, one that ends in a 0. We are going to Argentina and Brazil on the 4th December and coming back a couple of days before Christmas. Counting the days.

Good for him if that's what he wants. My daughter has several tattoos and I am not too keen but it's her skin. Mind you, on the other hand (?foot) I quite fancy a red rose or a butterfly on my ankle but don't tell my girls. Oh yes, and I have my ears pierced twice but would quite fancy another piercing at the top.

David Dimbleby has just had his first tattoo at the age of 75. He's always wanted one apparently! It's a scorpion on the back of his shoulder.

Do you have any lifelong ambitions have you recently fulfilled?
