I have so much to do and haven't been able to catch up with what has been happening on GN. Next week, I shall be less pressed for time.

I've been ironing for my friend...3 hours non-stop. Now ready for coffee and catch-up time.
I did say that I'd tell you about Rory's escapade [in our absence.] Our good friends were calling by and feeding/sitting/fussing him three times a day. Rory was having fun and decided to jazz things up with a spot of ^sitting outside," high in the forest/in view of the kitchen door and waiting for the sound of a fork on his dish, when he would hasten into the kitchen. One night, the final night, he REFUSED to budge from the garden. He simply sat and stared as - "Rory, your chicken is ready" was yelled from the doorway. Both Liz and John made every effort to persuade him to come into the house. He allowed them to stroke him and he purred loudly...but that was as far as he was prepared to "be a good boy." We had a phone call at 11pm and John was preparing to stay the night in the house with the door ajar. Eventually, the sensor light went on and John watched as Rory sneaked into the house for his untouched breakfast and supper. We certainly are blest with good friends. On occasions we've rounded up their ducks as they went on walkabout down the main road...sigh! And there was the time Mr soop was attacked by their cockerel and fell and twisted his ankle.

Welcome back, dear soop! I'm afraid I did have a little sample of Gagagran's parking. Just a little mind! And the apricot flapjacks are yummy. Well, I was hungry!! 
Baking tomorrow - will bring another everlasting chocolate fudge cake. To make up for everything the bits I ate.

My granddaughter, Hannah, made some delicious raspberry and lemon cupcakes. Sorry, there were eaten in next to no time. Otherwise I'd have brought a few home for you to sample.

Lovely to be back with so many special memories of our trip to Rutland. I have a long list of "must dos" BUT I shall add a few pics before I go. Promise to spend more time with you all tomorrow afternoon.
Rory was really pleased to see us. He hadn't eaten his morning breakfast when we returned home in the afternoon. After a good deal of fuss and purring, he went to his bowl and enjoyed his meal. He hasn't let us out of his sight since...

Welcome home Soop - it sounds as if you had a splendiferous time with the family. Has Rory given you the cold shoulder for leaving him or was he just very pleased to have you home?
We (us lot!) did trespass upon your kind hospitality and used your lovely kitchen but made sure it was left spick and span for your return. I have left a tin of my famous apricot flapjacks and some proper Yorkshire parkin in the tins - hope you found them!
Rory was PLEASED to see us. He had kept our friends [who were kindly calling on him several times a day] well and truly on their toes. Will tell you all about it, later.
Ta dah! Afternoon greetings to you lot ...I've missed you all. Yep! There was a whole lot of noisy laughter going on in leafy Rutland over the weekend. We had great fun. The Champagne flowed. We had that many toasts...
Matt [son number three] and wee man were hoping to be with us for lunch. The car broke down on the motorway. AA did what they could and Matt and wee man eventually turned up at tea-time. Wee man was shy for all of fifteen minutes. After which, he kept us amused and had a rather late bedtime! When the time came for Matt to return to London, we were all wishing him a safe journey when Tim [middle son] saw that the car had a flat tyre. All the gubbins had to be off loaded on to the pavement and the spare tyre was duly installed. My son earned our respect. We all realised what a tight schedule he had [he had to catch a flight at Gatwick after returning wee man to his Mummy, and time was of the essence. However, all turned out well. M is paragliding in the Alps. A well deserved treat.
Must away to unload the washing machine. I shall return to add a few pics as soon as I can.
The recipe I used was a Gordon Ramsay and used smoked paprika - I've decided I don't like smoked paprika. [yuk]
Off to make an almond/armond/ahmond and cinnamon cake in a minute - I'll bring some in - if it tastes ok!
Wouldn't recommend that particular recipe for pulled pork Liz. It pulled very easily but I wish I'd just roasted it
