Tea questions time

goldengirl, you can put the tea leaves straight onto the garden.

Assam in the morning and Ceylon in the afternoon or Darjeeling if I've run out. It has to be a pot. I think one tea bag is a dreadful waste as I was told if tea is brewed properly then you can get three cups from a tea bag . I hate a tea bag in a mug . What do you do with the tea bag? Mugs don't have saucers.

Our local Chinese restaurant serves Jasmine tea and it goes a treat with the food.

I use tea bags for everyday tea but reading this thread might just try some leaf tea again - I have several teapots of varying sizes! What does one do with used tea leaves these days? - we don't have a compost heap.

Ditto Grannyknot must be china!! Mug or cup - don't mind.

... meant to add, a fine cup is essential. I can't stand it in the trendy coffee shops when I am bought tea in what looks like a soup bowl.

Yorkshire tea for every day, but a recent addiction too is Lime and Ginger Sensation (no milk) and a must is Sleepy Time tea for the last cup of the day.

Darjeeling or earl grey tea leaves made in a small metal tea pot with an inbuilt strainer. Drunk from a fine china cup, no milk or sugar. That is my favourite and is why I generally drink coffee when I'm out, a tea bag dunked in water just doesn't compare.

I didn't drink much tea until I was eighteen, and then I realised that my mum makes it like boot polish. The rest is history....

I can`t stand Earl Grey, tastes like the smell of calomine lotion! Any ordinary tea will do for me, but I like it very weak, no milk or sugar. Can`t remember the last time I used a china cup, they`re right at the back of the highest cupboard, we always use mugs. My daughter talked me into trying a toffee flavoured tea once in a shop, but it was vile!

Don't drink much tea myself but it is the only thing to have with scones I think. I like Ceylon tea as not too strong - cannot drink builders type tea at all - for that reason I always have coffee when out as I can drink that any way.

Totally agree. Don't need anything to pick you up but tea.

I went off coffee many years ago it made me feel odd.
A cup of tea has this almost mystical cure all quality in the British Psyche. Any crisis in life, make a cup of tea. Bombed out of your house in the war? Have a cup of tea. It seems to be a symbol of offering someone care and concern when there is nothing much else you can do to help.

I think that during both wars the UK government took over the importing of tea as a moral booster for the war effort.

I was born a bit after the end of the war but I am addicted to tea. There is nothing really to beat it.

Loose leaf Yorkshire tea, in a pot, don't forget the strainer ! Strong but milky. Aaaaahhhhhhh.

Sook,decaf cost more,but if it taste just as good? I'll try it.

They also make Yorkshire tea which is one of the best too.
What I really detest is Lapsang Souchong!

I would die without tea, 2 mugs before getting up, 2 middle of morning and 2 about 5.00. Typhoo or PG tips. made in a tea pot with tea bags. We drink it milk, no sugar. Would not be able to live without my 'amber nectar'. I like fresh coffee but tea is bliss.

We had a mature American student teacher staying with us 20 years ago. She became a convert and took a teapot back with her. One of her colleagues said " You have to be careful of that stuff, remember they grew up on it,.You never know what affect it'll have on you." doh!!! {not from Tennessee Envious Arkansas.} [smikle]

My preferred brand is Taylor's of Harrogate who make a good range of speciality teas. Not always easy to get hold of here.

Envious I'm on BP meds which is why I drink decaffeinated tea.

Enviousamerican - Please don't take this personally, I love America and have been there many times, but coffee is horrible!

Deedaa,sounds like it got drunk tea leaves and all!

I drink one cup of coffee a day,brewed by one of those Keurig contraptions.It doesn't taste like the coffee I love of old. Perculated on top of the stove.That strong coffee tasted great in china cups to me!
