Lovely news, dear Baubles

Twenty two year old grandson, studying at London uni', was lucky enough to win a holiday for two in Barbados. He's taking his best pal and they aim to also "take in" New York...as you do! Realises he needs to earn extra dosh so he applied for a job as barman/waiter in a new trendy tapas bar. The interviews were to be spread over two days as there were many applicants. When he turned up for his interview, the manager was rushed off his feet and suggested that Will should hang around until the rush was over. Grandson took off his jacket and got down to washing the glasses and tidying the tables. Guess what...he was offered the job on the spot!

I have just got back from a three hour walk up a river valley (Aniseed Valley) with my daughter and her husband, in warm sunshine, with great views. Last night we had a bbq and her daughter and her fiance came over. I bought them the gas bbq as a thank you for having me to stay for six weeks and making so much effort to take me to interesting places. I am having such a lovely time with my family - I know I will be doing the right thing in emigrating.

Reflux is horrid for babies, glad it is sorted.

I had a lovely time today with 3 former colleagues who came for lunch. It was good to catch up. One had got married at Christmas and brought her wedding photos, another told me to 'hold the date' as she is getting married next Christmas. The 3rd friend had some lovely stories to tell about her year old baby boy. really good to hear the school was going from strength to strength in the hands of these lovely young women but have to say am glad it is not my responsibility any more!

Poor little thing, that must have been very unpleasant for her.

My good news is that my little granddaughter, who is now seven months old, is thriving. She was a poorly wee thing for months, suffering badly from acid reflux which caused her to be constantly sick and in pain. The medication she was eventually given has done the trick, she's a different child now, happy, healthy, and positively glowing

Went out for lovely pre birthday/ pre mothers day meal with DGS, DGD,DH and DS. Kids behaved and the food was tasty with wine.

As it was a surprise they didn't tell me so I was out in the garden with Gch- we were all planting clematis in what was mud. {don't we love the HELP!!!!!}.All knee deep in mud when DS told me we had to get changed quickly to get to restaurant by 1.00. Ahh bless.

But a great treat and toasted by the children.

Made an insurance claim for a lost antique ring and the people dealing with it are really nice and helpful. They have given me some suggestions for antique jewellers who might have something suitable and been very fair about the valuation. Isn't it good to be able to say something nice about an insurance claim?
