Great grandparents.

Proud to be a GGM, on the other side of the family GGC has a GGGM younger than me.

My mother in law is GGM to my 2 DGSs. She was 71 when the first was born . She thinks it's wonderful. She didn't seem as pleased to be a GM at 46. ? She seemed to forget she was a week off 20 years old when DH was born.

Going on a family history of latish marriages and even later child bearing, I will be lucky to become a GGM before I am 100

My 3 were really lucky to have a great Grandma who spent many holidays with us,she died a great great Grandma 2 weeks after her 90th birthday. 6 years on Christmas is still a bit empty.
I became a Great aunt when i was 20

I'm a GGM, nowhere near a GGGM, probably 10-12 more years.

This thread is five years-old and it's quite sad to see the late Greatnan being so upbeat and talking about when she's 86

I am the Incredibly Shrinking Granny to my grandchildren! The tallest is 6ft 7in and I am under 5ft.I have to stand on the bottom stair to give them hug.

My mum was 39 when I was born and I was 32 when absentdaughter was born. My mama lived to see her first great grandson – and what a joy that was to all three generations. Absentdaugter was 19 when first absent grandson put in an appearance – he's now 10 years old. If he (and his offspring) follow suit, I could make great grandmother by the age of 72 and great great grandmother at 92. The women in my family make old bones, so who knows but it's a real possibility? Meanwhile, first absent granddaughter is still eagerly awaiting signs of my shrinking!

Thank you Greatgran - I'm going to tell her what you said. I tell her often what a good mum she is to her little boy, and she beams with pride! My daughter, who also gave her husband his marching orders because he was also work-shy, is a fine, strong grandma who adores her little grandson. You feel the love in both of their homes!

My eldest grandson just got married and I know they are both keen to start a family so maybe I'll be a Great Grandma soon , can't wait . Hard to believe that little boy I love so much will be a Dad soon.. and my lovely daughter will be a Grandma.

I would be about 80 if DGD had baby at same sort of age as me (25/26) and her mum so chance of G G Granhood is remote.

Green - much better to go it alone than have to worry about an unsatisfactory partner. Good for her, and for your daughter for being so supportive.

I'm a great-grandma! My middle granddaughter had her little boy when she was 18 and when I was 60. She's making a fine job of bringing him up, having given his father the heave-ho when she realised he was work-shy and drank too much. She holds down a job, with my daughter (her mother) looking after him while she's at work.

I was a gm at 42 and so were both my daughters. My sister was a gm at 36 and a great gm at 56. That made me a great-great aunt at 46, which sounds even older than great -gm! I still have eight gcs to start producing -I wonder how many great- gcs I will have in a few years time? My eldest gs swears he does not want any children and will make sure he finds a partner who feels the same way. He is almost 29 and is the oldest of six - he has never wavered in his determination not to have children. He is a wonderful uncle to his brother's two little girls and says he looks forward to having many more nephews and nieces.

I'll be lucky if I make great. I'm 67 and mini is 1.
I was astounded when I found out I was going to be a grandmother. Still not got used to it!
