Why did it take 7 policemen to arrest Andy Coulson yesterday?

Oh they have to have their breaks bless them.
And of course in the Uk, they never do anything on their own. So they have to be paired off. Even if it is something really risky, like attending a meeting with a head teacher. They have to take a buddy. So they probably don't take breaks on their own either.
Unless you are one of those unqualified police assistants on bikes. They are allowed out on their own.
I always remember Paul Boateng, when he was minister for the prison service (early Blair govt) spluttering over the fact that prison officers were insisting on their traditional right to have lunch breaks in licensed staff facilities. That's right , their right to a pint with their lunch before going back to work with prisoners!

Apparently all seven came from Strathclyde. Could it be something to do with time spent driving and having sufficient security or could it just be that several policemen fancied a day out?

They couldn't find eight? wink

JessM Fri 01-Jun-12 05:48:27

And they all wanted to be on the telly?

Bellesnan Thu 31-May-12 16:49:29

Perhaps they wanted some overtime pay?

AlisonMA Thu 31-May-12 15:11:35

But we keep hearing how overstretched they are. I thought there might be a GN who had direct knowledge of how the police work.

Perhaps the police know something we don't?

Greatnan Thu 31-May-12 14:38:56

What will happen if the flak keeps flying, up and up the pecking order?

jeni Thu 31-May-12 12:29:45

Spooky tech?

Anagram Thu 31-May-12 12:11:11

Oh! I only saw it when it was Coulson....how odd!

absentgrana Thu 31-May-12 12:10:09

Anagram I think it originally said Poulson and has been mysteriously corrected. Spooky!

Anagram Thu 31-May-12 12:08:49

I'm confused, Alison - what was wrong with your first 'Coulson'? confused

Probably something esoteric to do with Strathclyde police wanting to take him to Strathclyde (which I think they did) and their not wanting to tread on the toes of the Met. Police protocol is a complete mystery.

AlisonMA Thu 31-May-12 11:59:09

Sorry, Coulson. That's what you get when elderley ladies listen to the radio rather than watch television!

Bags Thu 31-May-12 11:33:12

To protect him from angry voters?

Lilygran Thu 31-May-12 11:30:31

Coulson? But I asked the same question.

AlisonMA Thu 31-May-12 11:22:48

Someone enlighten me please.
