Mine is finally getting a knitted teddy bear to look reasonable. I am hopeless at faces on any toy I knit. These little teddies looked so easy, but the first two I made are currently starring in their own Horror Movie called "How to terrify a Child."

When DD1 was that age I drank out of a plastic camping mug. Saved a lot of stress grin

Lovely photos, elegran smile Nice idea about sprinkling the ashes.

Lovely photography!

I have DD and DGD staying overnight! I had forgotten how wearing 11/12 month olds were!
Nothing is safe! My glasses (spectacles) and my glass (vodka)

I'm going to have to rearrange my house before the next visit?

Beautiful pics Elegran. You've really captured a special moment there.

I did bin the duds and chose the best ones, but he really was gorgeous, difficult not to get good shots when he stood still for ages. Two swans came ashore right beside him and he just ignored them - and they ignored him.

Those are wonderful, Elegran - I am impressed!

The photographs are successfully uploaded to my profile.

I don't fancy roast heron, though I believe it was a delicacy at Tudor royal courts.

Elegran - I can feel the peace. flowers

Glad you enjoyed that quiet moment elegran.
We saw some herons too, in our local country park. They have raised 26 young this season and the rangers had set up an excellent scope trained on the nests (which about the size of dinner tables - a bunch of them in the top of some scots pines) and a "heron cam". We were a bit bemused by the signs saying "Heron Festival" but all became clear when we saw the baby herons. Quite different to the Woburn Oyster Festival up the road, where you eat the creatures in question smile

Today I spent half an hour watching a heron preening its feathers in the sunshine.

On Thursday I had collected DHs ashes and had to think where to scatter them. I decided to take a little at a time to each of the places where we used to walk when he was well. First one was the Gogar Burn where it has been landscaped to flow past the office blocks in Edinburgh Park. It widens into a pool fringed on one side with rushes, with a paved path down the other in front of the offices. The heron was at the edge of the rushes. It is very quiet there at the weekend. I took some photographs, which I shall try to upload

A bonus and a lovely peaceful scene.

Really exciting Maniac and jeni - glad you enjoyed yourselves today.

Today is our middle daughter's hen do, organised by her best friend and chief bridesmaid. This afternoon all the attendees went to a recording studio as part of the experience. All three daughters have already posted photos on FB of them singing together, grinning their heads off.

We/they have had a trying few years with evasive pregnancies, unfinished pregnancies, unexpected pregnancies and a few hospital stays so to see them all so happy did me the power of good. smile
