1) Shop for fresh food daily and only for what I need so that there is no waste.

2)Only take enough cash for what I intend to buy (leave debit card at home)

3) If my journey is less than a mile walk to safe fuel.

This only works for me because I live in an urban area fairly close to shops and other facilities.

1. Live alone
2. Live in a 24 sq. metre flat which is very well insulated.
3. Stop spending on make-up, hairdressers, bags, etc.

This is how I fund my extensive travel from my pension income.

Anagram do please give us the facetious ones. We all need a good laugh especially when the 'drought' keeps pouring down!

1 There are loads of things I only buy when on offer and stock up: coffee, tea, washing powder, fabric softener, loo rolls, toothpaste, shampoo, hair conditioner etc etc.

2 Only put the hot water on before a shower and switch it off before starting the shower. If we have to wash hands in cold water so be it.

3 Only buy the meat which is on offer in the supermarket and then freeze it so we still eat a variety.

Can I have 4? We drive at a steady speed to save money on petrol and anticipate so we don't brake or accelerate harshly.

field have you had a look on your local freecycle site our area often have small freezers, of course you still have to run it.

I buy a large loaf from local market ( 40p cheaper than supermarket) split it in half and freeze the one half and this way the bread does not go stale smile
I buy cat food in bulk on line and that works out much cheaper than once again buying from a supermarket.
When doing a Sunday roast I make up extra dinners and freeze them so if I am in a hurry I know that there is a dinner in the freezer grin

Well so far that rules out quite a few as I can't afford to buy a freezer, let alone run one!

Most of the bread I eat is as toast so I buy reduced sliced bread (Cranks if they have it in Waitrose) split into bags of six slices and keep in freezer.
Easy to use straight from freezer

1. look at reduced items at the supermarket
2. use toilet roll instead of tissues
3. own brands are often as good as if not better than big names

Tying in with the supermarket thread. What are your 3 best top money saving tips? Just curious to see what other people do.

1. Leave heating on 24 hrs on low, so a constant temp and not re heating the whole house everytime the heating comes back on.

2. Try to arrange any shopping/visits etc in the car so it is all done in one journey.

3. Do a weekly menu so I dont randomly buy food that seems a good idea at the supermarket, and is then left in the freezer.
