I really feel tired (exhausted!) after having the GDs for even half a day! I know DD wants me to have them more often, but it really does take it out of me, and OH is 72 and gets quite stressed. I feel like I'm looking after three kids.....

Going up stairs! I start off ok, then all of a sudden start flagging! I don't have stairs in my house, so perhaps that doesn't help! It's my birthday today - 62! Did a bit of 'me' shopping in Edinburgh, buying things a size smaller than I've been able to do for a long time - thanks to glass and the rest of you on the Diet thread! I also bought some of the very expensive shampoo that grannyactivist told us all about - and the chatty young man who sold it to me piled a lot of free samples in the bag as well, saying, "There you are, you'll be thinking it's your birthday! I replied, "It is!" I swung out of the store feeling quite 'ticketty-boo'! I realise I'm probably older than his grandma, but it made me feel rather nice!

Sadly, friends dying or needing major surgery. A couple of friends have recently died and one friend has just had an, apparently successful, liver transplant while another is awaiting dialysis.

Ooh, and varicose veins, seeing my mum looking back at me in a mirror and, after having sat for a while, having to wait for my hips to get into gear!

Finding myself comparing ailments with other grans.

I think that talking to other people in the supermarket is nice , it"s what we used to do way back when , I don"t think it"s an age thing , I do find that in the usa people are chattier , which is nice

When the possible candidates to be the new Archbishop of Canterbury look young...

Being wary of having a bath in case I can't get out again.

Worst of all veins! Great blue ropes of them extend up my forearms. My MIL had them and I used to think they looked awful.... reckon she's put a curse on me! (hmm)

Bending down to pick money dropped on floor, and then getting stuck for a while

Playing trains on the floor, then having to get up to answer the door before the postman puts a little red slip through the letterbox!

Yesterday my DD parked her car on the other side of a knee high metal barrier when the footpath was 'just' the other side. Clambering over it was NOT an option and they waited patiently whilst I went round it instead!!! My excuse was that I wearing a skirt

It's amazing the number of people I know or recognise standing by the Tena pads in Sainsbury's. Strangely, we all seem to have mothers who have become incontinent!!

dorsetpennt; I'm having to pay someone to decorate my living room next week; I'm divorced, too, and it hurts to pay someone to do something I used to do myself. And I must make a point of not talking to the decorator too much; years ago he would have hung on my every word but these days, alas, men under the age of 70 seem to look straight through me if I speak to them .

Having middle-aged sons - though they tell me I still have a few years to go, but they would say that wouldn't they?
Aches and pains - I can tell when I wake up what the weather is like.

missing back teeth - makes chewing hard work sometimes. sagging jawline. the amount of time it take skin to heal. i have had middle aged long sight for such a long time i don't notice the fact i have to wear variofocals all the time.
Other than that all bits in working order. But when younger you take it for granted and when 60 you are grateful every day. Which makes me feel older!

Realising your friends are getting old can be upsetting. I have a dear friend who's memory is becoming worse and that is really sad. I'm not wrinkled exactly just a bit sagged, worst aspect is the arthritic pain every day in pain and able to do less and less. I always did my own painting and decorating, as I'd been divorced I couldn't afford help so did loads of maintenance in the house. Now the thought of getting up a step ladder !!!I had to wait for a younger visitor to change a light bulb recently. I can still love to garden but it's a little and often rather then out all day. Can still walk a long way but do pay for it the next day. Working two afternoons a week keeps me in the loop as far as everyday life goes.

trying to climb stairs makes me feel really old. Just had a new stair lift installed-magic for carting things up and down stairs.dgc can't wait to try it, they think it's really cool.

I woke up this morning feeling very low, as you do, but reading all these posts has made me LOL and I feel so much better. Thank you ladies
