Nominate an outstanding older person!

heh im 80 going on 40 and age really is just what you make of it, guess Im lucky reasonably fit and healthy even though a bit bored trying to find things to do or clubs etc to join, dont seem to fit in with my age group because they dont seem to want to do anything, I bought a bungalow on a retirement complex supposedly for the over 55s but maybe they should have said over 65s as most people are in 70s but when I tried to get them interested in short breaks etc the only response i got was "oh no we`re too old "just cant understand it Im ready to go at the drop of a hat so Im off to Malta next week (alone)just for a break, yippee smile

A bit depressing. Smacks of 'aren't they doing well in spite of being over the top'. I guess that's why I found 60 a horrible birthday .

I should very much like to see a change to the "negative mind-set and perceptions often associated with old age". However, I am not sure that a separate celebration of inspiring old people will achieve this; possibly it wiil be a celebratory ghetto that is easily ignored. Moreover, I am not bonkers about 60 being the starting point for old age.
