The Observer: 98% Forced-Closure Of Care Homes Are In Private Sector.

Here are the facts and figures I could find:

I might be being really dim (no surprise) but aren’t ALL residential care home privately owned and run now (talking only about elderly care here)

When we were looking for care homes for my MiL the only ones available were ALL private and it was a case of finding one which met her care needs AND the councils budget.

Not at all surprised.

I'm not too surprised to hear this, mae.
I fear that private special schools seems the next way for people so motivated to make money in areas which might not be best served by the profit motive.
