burnette ring your supplier and ask for a form they will send you one if the offer is still running,not sure if there was a cut off date if there was be sure to claim next year,ours has been credited to our account along with others that we know who had applied for it. Good luck.

Gramps, under the new Green Deal (or whatever it is to be called). Loft clearing and reloading is included in the loft insulation package.

When the power companies and government did research into the number of hoouseholds who didnt accept free roof insulation it was found that this was mainly because they couldnt manage to empty or reload the loft themselves and didnt know where to get help, or how to afford it.

never heard of this. my husband is confined to a chair for 10 hours a day due to rhumatoid arthritis and a broken hip, the fuel bills are huge so will give this a go worth a try anks

I didn`t have to apply, both last year and this year I got a letter saying it would automatically be paid to my supplier

We have had the free cavity wall insulation and also had a new boiler under the Warm Front scheme. Because we have a hot air system which is more expensive we had to pay £1000 towards it, but it is definitely saving us money now! The downside to the scheme was that it was a nightmare getting it organised as nobody seemed to know what they were doing.

Definately did not get it last year, I wonder why, perhaps because we didn't apply as never heard of it. This years letter dad didn't have to do anything automatically will go into his account.

I do wonder how it is said that pensioners are dying from the cold, all I can imagine is there are many out there who do not have any help, or ask for it, from authorities. Or it is a scare mongering tactic as anyone with less than £16,000,00 is entitiled to it, I believe?. Naturally I am happy to be taken to task on that point as it is only my understanding not fact.

POGS We received this payment last year as DH has DLA paid to him we applied for the forms from our supplier and completed them,it must have been about March when we received a letter saying it had been paid direct to our supplier,we have just received this years forms and sent them off,this has not effect on Winter Fuel Allowance or cold weather payments and of course it is not widely advertized such a lot of people are not aware of it at all.

I've had free loft insulation and winter fuel allowance. I'm on state pension and low fixed income but because I have no mortgage,no dependants- have been
careful and have some savings I am JUST above the level to claim pension credit.
I divorced before the rule about getting share of husbands pension.
I'm comfortable but can't afford too many cruises luxuries.
After 50 years in a profession I occasionally feel slightly aggrieved

Although not in receipt of any benefits, we would qualify for free loft and cavity wall insulation under the Scottish Government Scheme, simply because DH is over 70. As we have already insulated the loft to the recommended depth at our own expense and we have no cavities to be filled (stone built cottage with 2 1/2 foot thick walls) qualification is a bit academic!

As far as we can work out dad will still get the £300 winter fuel allowance and the £25 a week cold weather payment. This came out of the blue and as far as we can see is an extra £130????

People knock the system but we certainly cannot thus far.

My wife and I get the heating allowance, as we are both in late seventies and
eighty, also disabled.
We could have had the loft insulated for free, but could not clear it, as required.

You do have to submit your bank details to obtain guaranteed pension credit, attendence allowance, rate relief housing benefit etc. Dad was treated with utmost respect from our council and social services after he was sadly taken ill almost two years ago. They were brilliant at sorting things out and getting his entitlements. His gas and electric bills are no worry as they are fully covered with government help, a point lost on many people.

I had not heard either, despite some knowledge of this area.
But yes - for certain elderly vulnerable people, if they are with participating electricity companies

Do they ask for his bank account details. I have not heard of this!
