As regards the property, unless we have a solicitor or similar on here, I imagine you will need to find a good solicitor Are you sure there was no solicitor involvement at all in this persons life?

the quick answer is no unless you have passwords etc. But you can get in with court orders and so on.

Just read the answers, and if they do not answer exactly what you want, ask AI any further details. Keep asking till you get what you want.

As for property, unless you dig out any papers, you'll have to go to a good solicitor?

I'm really sorry that you are in this position. Please be kind to yourself and take things one step at a time.

I wouldn't rush to return the medication as they can't re-use them but you could pack them up together until you yourself need to go to a pharmacy.

I got a list from (I think) Age UK saying what to do in what order.

Any local chemist will accept meds.
If there is a tel number on the bottle, ring that. Explain there is a lot & they may come & collect if you aren’t mobile enough to return.
I’ll be in the same boat one day & not looking forward to it.

Meant to say make sure you take breaks as it’s quite stressful sorting someone’s property, etc. especially if there was no instructions in place. Good luck with it all.

As Aveline says do return the meds to a chemist, out of the packaging.

They won’t be reused, the most obvious reason is the risk of tampering, but it’s the safest way of getting rid of large quantities of unwanted medication as they will be disposed of safely.

Please don’t just put them in the ordinary household rubbish.

Return the meds without the labelled packaging. Boot took back a lot of stuff.

Any pharmacists about please?
If I return substantial quantities of unopened packs of cardiac meds to a pharmacy - can any of them ever be reissued/reused? (I suspect not)

I’m in a difficult situation, following a sudden close death, a 5 hour round trip from my home, I’m 70, limited fitness, sole executor, no family, no help, I will be doing everything alone and the deceased had no plans in place at all.

It will be onerous for me to try and return the meds to a pharmacy, but I would make a hard effort to do so - but only if they can be reused within in the system?

Also, any property legal experts please - can property sales just go directly through with the Land Registry details these days - or will it be necessary for me to source the original house deeds?

Any IT experts also please? - I was expecting to find a little book with passwords and access codes, but after a 7 hour fruitless search there seems to be just nothing. At all. Would an IT expert be able to gain access the the mobile phone and laptops for me -without losing the data - does anyone know?

All the friends and contacts are on the mobile phone, which I can’t access, detailed finances on the laptop (which I am very well placed to deal with before the funds are distributed to the designated recipients, in due course after I have done probate)

It’s all going to be quite difficult, I am widowed myself, so it’s another trauma to deal with, day 1 today has not been administratively easy, and for health reasons I need to make the load as easy for myself as possible over the coming months.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some pointers.
