Greetings Cards

Mother’s Day, birthday, anniversary cards etc, a week. Christmas cards from whenever they arrive to about 2nd January. Only cards I keep are DH & my anniversary cards to each other along with our 2 birthday & Christmas cards. Oh I always keep my Mother’s Day cards too from my sons.

Just the day of the celebration ,except for Christmas cards they usually arrive early and come down at New Year

Yes, my Bloom and Wild flowers are still going strong and showing no signs of wilting 10 days after they were delivered.

My flowers from Bloomin Wild are better now than when they were delivered on mother's day, they look to have at least another week left, Similar with a supermarket bunch although they are starting to wilt a bit now

Mother’s Day cards are different from other holidays (Christmas, Birthdays…) especially from your children, grandchildren.

I’m all for keeping a special box as they accumulate over the years. It’s a way of collecting wishes, thoughts, thank yous as your kids grow into maturity. At some point they will see their growth in their own handwriting.

Any Christmas cards with pictures are kept for the same reason - except in photo form.

Usually keep cards for a couple of weeks if they are from my DS, DDiL, DGS & DGD. Then filed away with others that they have sent. Birthday & Christmas cards are recycled after a week.

We have a beautiful heart shaped card hanger in our hall. We only replace cards to make room for the next lot! My Mother’s Day cards only lasted for 6 days and were then replaced with my daughters birthday cards. They will stay up until any Easter cards arrive.
The only cards I take down early are Christmas cards (because I hate Christmas).
Once the cards come down I throw them away. Not the sentiment type.

Normally keep cards for about a week but hand crafted cards I often frame and swap around like this Christmas card from 7yr old grandson

I keep them up for about two weeks, then put them away until I have a sort out. Today I've just thrown out my 60th birthday cards which I received five years ago.

Usually a week then into the recycle bin unless they have a letter written inside or have been hand made by my grandchildren. I have saved cards from my big occasions, eg: congratulations cards from when my children were born & our silver & ruby wedding anniversaries just for sentimental reasons, the longer I keep these the harder it is to consider parting with them.

I keep my Mother's Day cards up for about a week. Then I write the year on the back and they are stored away.

My Mother's Day flowers from M&S arrived with no water and didn't last very long at all The ends are usually in a plastic bag full of cotton wool type material which is soaked in water. Yet I don't like to complain to my daughter who ordered them It seems so unkind??

Until I dust which is a very movable feast in terms of how long that might be.

A week. Then I cut the suitably sized ones in broad strips to use as book marks. DH throws his birthday / Father's Day cards away the next day - before Christmas I often have to rescue half the cards from the bin the same day.

Up to a week, though quite often only three or four days if i'm not expecting any of the senders to call in and wonder where their card is.
We have a small house with very little space for such things and quite frankly, they make the place look even messier than it normally does.
I do make an exception for handmade cards though, including any from the dgc, which I might keep permanently

Just took my MD cards down before reading this! They are kept in a box with date on the back as are any cards from the GC.

A week. I don’t have space to keep any unless they are particularly precious.

I see these cards as personal greetings usually expressing love or friendship. I don’t put them on display for all to see but great joy in receiving them, putting them away in a box where I can take them out occasionally to reminisce. My mother on the other hand actually opens them out and and lays them on a table for everyone to read.

A week. After that DH asks if I want to keep them or bin them.

My cards stay up for ages; I move them around from windowsill to various tables around the house. I get so much pleasure from their messages. I keep all the cards my children and grandchildren give me stored in pretty boxes.

MD cards will be taken upstairs, into my memory box. I don’t know whether anyone has noticed that the roses hardly lasted 3 days 😫

I still have some Valentine roses but I anticipate having to reluctantly bin them on Tuesday.

I keep cards a fortnight , then into recycling. The flowers DS sent are still OK for a few more days.

I keep all cards up for a week, then they`re thrown away, unless there are any really special ones.
Lynne had a beautiful bunch of flowers delivered to me for Mother`s Day, roses and lilies, the roses were dead after 2 days, the lilies are on their last legs. My son brought me a very pretty mixed bunch, the roses and the iris were dead the following day, the rest are on their way out now. For what they charge for flowers they should last longer than that.

Most cards stay up for a week, but this year DH had lovely get well cards which stayed up till Mothering Sunday. My cards only stayed two days as the actual cards were not really to my taste, though the sentiments were fine. DH’s birthday is ten days after mine so mine come down after a week to make a gap. Then Christmas follows.
So it depends on the time of year.
